The Alps

The Alps are the highest mountains in Europe. It entered Austria from Noto Pass, Turci, near Genoa Bay, along the French-Italian border and via Switzerland. Continuous 1 0,200 kilometers, with an average elevation of about 3000 meters.

The main peak of the Alps is Mont Blanc, 48 10 meters above sea level, located at the junction of France and Italy. The word "Mont Blanc" means "white" in French, so it is called Mont Blanc because the snow here does not melt all year round and is as white as jade.

The Alps were formed from Oligocene to Miocene in Tertiary, due to the northward movement of the African plate and the extrusion and uplift of the Eurasian plate. The main Alps extend eastward to the Carpathians, southward to the Apennines and southwest to the Pyrenees.

Although the Alps are high and steep, there are also many valleys and mountain passes, which have become an important channel between Central and Southern Europe. The Alps suffered intense glaciation during the Quaternary Glacier Period, and modern glaciers occupied a certain position. Most of the mountains were once covered by glaciers, with more than 200 glaciers 1. Glacier meltwater forms the source of many rivers, and the Rhine, Rhone and Po rivers all originate here.

There are moraine lakes and tectonic lakes at the foot of the Alps. The larger ones are Lake Geneva, Lake Neuchatel and Lake Zurich, among which Lake Geneva is the largest, with an area of 58 1 km2 and a depth of 309 meters.

Due to its high altitude and special location, the Alps have formed a unique climate region with significant internal differences. The northern and eastern parts of the mountain range are located in the westerly belt, which is cool in summer, warm in winter and rich in precipitation in summer. The southern part of the mountain range is mild and humid in winter and dry and hot in summer. The northwest of the mountain range is obviously influenced by the Atlantic air mass. The precipitation in Alps increases with the elevation and decreases gradually from west to east. The annual precipitation is generally between 1200mm-2000mm, and it can reach 3000mm in mountainous areas. Precipitation in mountainous areas mostly falls in the form of snow, and there is snow all year round on the mountain, which is very convenient for winter sports. The temperature in mountainous areas also decreases with the elevation. The cooling rate in the south side of Alps is higher than that in the north side, and the side of Alps is also higher than that in the mountains.

The change of mountain climate has formed a vertical natural belt. From the low hill in front of the mountain to the top of the mountain, the order is summer green broad-leaved forest belt-mountain mixed coniferous and broad-leaved forest belt-mountain dark coniferous forest belt-alpine shrub meadow belt-sub-ice and snow belt.

The Alps are rich in mineral and hydraulic resources. In France, the water resources in the Alps provide convenient conditions for the development of hydropower, and French aluminum mines are also concentrated here. Mineral, water and forest resources have greatly promoted the aluminum smelting industry and paper industry in France.

The scenery in the Alps is very charming, and there are many world-famous scenic spots and tourist attractions. Above the snow line, the spectacular Mont Blanc, Lucano, Bodurangi and Douvre have attracted climbers and tourists from all over the world. In the past hundred years, this mountain has become a place for vacation and recuperation. In summer, this is a summer resort; In winter, this is the hometown of winter sports. Hotels, restaurants and other facilities can be enjoyed by tourists. There are more than 50 tourist attractions in the Alps, and the number of tourists staying in each year exceeds 1 10,000. Among the mountains is the highest Hilton Hotel in Europe. Sitting in the revolving restaurant of the hotel, people can enjoy the mountain view of the Alps. There is also the highest railway station in Europe. You can go directly to Jungfrau to see the glacier wonders by train. Many places have cable cars that go directly to the top of the mountain, so that tourists can enjoy the snow. If climbers are in distress, there are helicopters to provide assistance, and there are hospitals in the mountains that specialize in treating fractures and falls. Many tourists bring a lot of foreign exchange income to the countries where the Alps are located.

Mount Kilimanjaro (the highest peak in Africa)

Kilimanjaro is the highest mountain range in Africa. It is a flaming mountain with a height of 5963 meters and an area of 756 square kilometers. It is located in the northeast of Tanzania, near Kenya, 3 degrees south latitude and only over 300 kilometers from the equator. Kilimanjaro is called "the roof of Africa", and many geographers like to call it "the king of Africa". Kilimanjaro National Park and Forest Reserve occupy the whole Kilimanjaro Mountain and surrounding forests. Kilimanjaro National Park consists of all mountainous areas above the tree line and six forest corridors passing through mountain forest belts. Kilimanjaro is surrounded by mountains, and many mammals live here, some of which are endangered species.

Kilimanjaro has two main peaks, one is Kibo and the other is Ma Wenji. There is a saddle ridge with a length of 10 kilometers between the two peaks. From a distance, Kilimanjaro is an isolated mountain, rising from the vast East African prairie, towering into the clouds and imposing. Kilimanjaro Kibo has a crater with a diameter of 2400 meters and a depth of 200 meters. The walls of the crater are flawless, and huge icicles stand at the bottom, covered with snow and ice, just like a huge jade basin.

In Swahili, Kilimanjaro means "sparkling mountain". Its outline is very clear: the slowly rising slope leads to a long, flat top, which is a real giant crater-a basin-like volcanic peak. On a hot day, from a distance, the blue mountain base is pleasing to the eye, while the top of the snowy mountain seems to hover in the air. Fog that often extends below the snow line deepens this illusion. The temperature at the foot of the mountain is sometimes as high as 59℃, while the temperature at the top of the mountain is often MINUS 34℃, so it is called "equatorial snow peak". Kilimanjaro has been a mysterious and fascinating mountain for centuries-no one really believes that there is such a snow-covered mountain near the equator. Kilimanjaro is extremely sacred in Tanzanian hearts. Many tribes hold traditional sacrificial activities at the foot of the mountain every year to worship the mountain gods and pray for peace.

Mount Fuji

Mount Fuji is the highest peak in Japan and a symbol of the Japanese nation. It is praised as a "holy mountain" by the Japanese people. Since it was recorded in writing in 78 1 year, Mount Fuji * * * has erupted 18 times, and the last time was 1707 times, thus becoming a dormant volcano. Due to the eruption of the crater, countless caves have been formed in the foothills, which are very charming and varied. Some caves still have air jets, while others are as cold as ice. The wall of the most beautiful Fuyuefeng Cave is covered with stalactite-like icicles, which do not melt all the year round. Commonly known as "Millennium Snow", it is regarded as a rare spectacle. There are two craters on the top of the mountain. The crater is about 800 meters in diameter and 200 meters deep. When the weather is fine, you can see the sunrise, the sea of clouds, the shadow Fuji and other natural scenery from the top of the mountain. Located on the top of the mountain, the Temple of Nine Continues and the Temple of Asami are also places frequented by tourists.

There are more than 2000 kinds of plants around the mountain, which is a natural botanical garden. Every July and August, the Japanese will compete to climb mountains here.

There are five Fuji lakes at the northern foot of Mount Fuji. From east to west, there are mountain lakes, estuary lakes, West Lake, Jinjing Lake and Qimu Lake. Mountains and lakes are the largest, with an area of 6.75 square kilometers. There are eight ponds in Rennomura, southeast of the lake, such as the channel and mirror pool, which are collectively called "Enduring the Wild Eight Seas" and are connected with mountains and lakes. There are scenic spots such as Hongyetai, Jyukai, Ice Cave, Zu, Tianshan Mountain on the bank of the West Lake. Hekou Lake has the most convenient transportation, and there are islands in the lake, which is the only lake with islands in the five lakes. The reflection of Mount Fuji reflected in the lake has become one of the wonders of Mount Fuji.
