1387, the Japanese invaders began to invade Fujian coastal areas on a small scale. In order to prevent the Japanese invaders from invading on a large scale, Zhu Yuanzhang, Emperor Taizu of Ming Dynasty, appointed Zhou Dexing to inspect the southeast coast.

At that time, pirates had been harassing Fujian waters 17 years. According to the topographical features of Quanzhou coastal areas, Zhou Dexing built five acropolis, including Chongwu.

"The East City has built a thick enemy platform to prevent thieves from following the tide and facilitate observation." Later, at 1574, four enemy platforms were built on the south, north and west sides, which were called virtual platforms. There are large and small holes on the upper and lower sides of the platform, which can accommodate dozens of people. These enemy platforms are about 50 meters away from the city gate.

There are also 26 bunks around the city for soldiers guarding the city to rest. This is the actual structure of Chongwu College. After several generations of construction and maintenance in Ming Di, the Chongwu Academy, which lost its military function, was abandoned for a long time.

1963, Chongwu Academy was listed as a county-level cultural relics protection unit; 1985 Chongwu Institute became a provincial-level cultural relics protection unit, and 1988 became a national-level cultural relics protection unit.
