Iceland Accommodation Recommendations How much does it cost to stay in Iceland?
This is a guide about accommodation in Iceland. You will also worry about accommodation in Iceland. Summer is the peak season in Iceland, so if you book a house, it is best to choose in advance, because the temporary price will be much higher. It’s better to prepare a strategy in advance.
In the summer peak season, when housing is most in demand, we started booking immediately after our tickets were issued. Many places were sold out half a year in advance, so the selection was very narrow, and we grabbed many "last rooms." The couple joined later and couldn't book many rooms together. They had to stay nearby or cancel the original reservation and change to a suite for 4 people. And no accommodation in Iceland can be called a hotel. . .
The prices are too expensive! You can only book a room similar to a dormitory for 10. As a result, I couldn't believe how cheap it was when I booked Eleven Hotels in Spain. The price difference between the south and the north was really huge! Moreover, most of the properties had shared toilets and bathrooms, so there was no choice.
So Iceland in summer is not a place suitable for just leaving. Rich people, please ignore the previous article. If you don’t have a budget, you should be able to find accommodation anywhere in the city.
Because all self-driving rooms require attached parking spaces, free is best. Those who are familiar with Miu also know that they are allergic to mites, so they have hygiene requirements.
In addition, I would like to remind everyone that if you travel around the island in summer and the journey time is too long, the check-in time generally does not exceed 10 pm. If it exceeds, please contact the landlord in advance. Basically, most rooms in Iceland have a check-in time. There is a small password-locked box. The landlord sends the password to the email and the door key is inside. You can check out by yourself the next morning. Some will put the credit card bill directly in the room, which is more self-service. But without this password, it would be uncomfortable to be trapped outside the house after a long day of travel. Almost every place we arrived took a long time to arrive.
***9 bookings were made during this trip, and the booking platform was still Booking. I tried AIR during my trip to France
After BNB, I became even more determined to use Booking! Why? It’s a cliché: the interface is pleasing to the eye, easy to operate, the reviews are objective, the information is detailed, the housing supply is diverse, and the most important thing is that most cancellations are free. For example, if there is a big difference between free cancellation and immediate payment, if you are sure about the visa or If you have a long-term contract, it is recommended to book directly.
1. Reykjavík
Igdlo Guesthouse (1 night) 115
Apartment reconstruction, dormitory, shared bathroom . The only mistake in the whole process! Very! Not! Recommended!
Gunnarsbraut46, Reykjavík, Iceland
Excellent: Almost no advantages.
Missing: House prices are higher in the capital. Located in the east of Lei City, it is nearly a 20-minute walk from the city center. Since you’ll be staying overnight and one day in the city, it’s important to choose a property with free parking. But it was actually parked on the side of the road nearby, a long walk, and unloading luggage. I found the entrance to the room based on the address. The staff at the front desk, who could not be called the front desk, was very impatient and asked me to pay in euros first. Then he took a printed picture and told me that our room is not here. It takes 5 minutes to walk to No. XX next to it. There is no breakfast, so I can go there by myself, check out and return the key. If you ask any more questions, just tell me to look at the map, it’s very close, and you can find it yourself. . . Because we were driving on a one-way street, it took me a long time to find it, and I had to ask people to find out where the entrance was. It is also very difficult to transport luggage in. There are high steps at the door. Upon entering, it is a renovated residential building, and each room is rented separately. Noisy! Huge difference in soundproofing! Decoration. . . . There is basically no decoration, and it is far from the picture when booking. The 6 rooms with 100% full bed rate use one bathroom, so you can wait for everything at night and in the morning
2. Borgarne
Egils Kaupangur Hotel) (1 night) ISK18500
Single villa with restaurant, private bathroom, and rooms with ocean or mountain views. Bathrobes, slippers and free toiletries are also provided. Five-star recommendation!
11, Brákarbraut, Borgarnes, Iceland
Excellent: It’s just like last night. The room I booked with a private bathroom is located on the ground floor. There is no need to move to another building, and the parking space is right at the door. To my surprise, there were slippers and toiletries. I was really surprised. The room is surrounded by windows on two sides, facing the sea and mountain views, which is amazing.
We arrived late and could have eaten in the restaurant earlier. Small password box at the door, email contact, self-service check-in.
Disadvantages: There are almost no shortcomings. If you insist on saying it, the restaurant closes too early.
3. Stykkishólmur
OurHomeApartments (1 night)ISK39095
The entire apartment, ground floor and basement. Kitchen, living room, balcony, bedroom*3
Laufásvegur 21-43, Stykkishólmur, Iceland
Excellent: We originally planned to stay for 4 people, so we booked a suite. We forgot the time while playing in Straw Hat Mountain. We arrived too late, almost 3 o'clock in the morning, and the landlord couldn't be contacted. What was touching was that the staff was still waiting for us. He was a Pakistani guy. He absolutely praised us! Open the door for us, please. In the middle of the night, they also explained to us the use of electrical appliances in the room. I took the ferry early the next morning. This stop was very convenient and very close. The room is big enough and the supplies are complete. Next to it is the Stykishholmi Church, just a stone's throw away. The car is parked right at the door, and if your butt is facing the door, you can just unload your luggage and go indoors
Disadvantages: Because there are too many rooms, the hygiene is a bit poor, especially in the kitchen. The bedroom is on the underground floor, so it's a little inconvenient to take things in and out.
4. Drangsnes
Malarhorn Guesthouse (1 night) 342
Whole apartment, kitchen, living room, balcony, bedroom* 2
Grundargata 17,520 Drangsnes, Iceland
Excellent: We also planned to stay for 4 people, so we booked a suite. We were exhausted from the day in Westfjords, and we arrived very late, at 1am+. What’s interesting is that there is the only bar in the town. The owner is an old man. He only wore a T-shirt in the middle of the night. He came out of the busy BAR to help us check in. . One of the few eastern footholds in the Westfjords, in order to quickly drive out of the Westfjords the next day. Facing the sea, the scenery is unique.
The electronic security door is very high-tech. When you enter, you feel like you are in a nursing home. The kitchen and living room are large, and the bedrooms all have two single beds. The private bathroom also has disabled facilities, which is really suitable for a nursing home. We slept until morning and the curtains in the room fell down. After explaining it to the staff the next day, they apologized to us repeatedly.
Park the car at the door, continue the rhythm of opening the trunk and going directly into the room
Disadvantages: Basically there are no disadvantages.
5. Húsavík
Tungulending Guesthouse (Tangulending Guesthouse) (1 night) ISK21160
B&B, shared bathroom, 10 square meters Room, with breakfast
Tungulending, 641 Iceland
Excellent: We booked 2 rooms, but we didn’t include that one if the couple couldn’t arrive. It is a 10-minute drive from Husa Bay. It is a very lonely house by the sea. It has a restaurant and breakfast. It is quite rich and suitable for a short stay! The scenery is so beautiful that I couldn’t leave in the morning. I took photos at the seaside for a long time. , but also a bit like the bathroom is shared, a bit like a Japanese B&B. Slippers, bath towels, hair dryers are all placed on the lockers for guests to pick up. If you check in late, pay attention to the sound and don't disturb others. The sound insulation is a bit poor.
Missing: It is far away from the city, and the location is difficult to find. There is no eye-catching sign on the main road. You have to turn around and find it slowly after driving too far. The road behind the fence can be described as steep, and you would be afraid of driving directly into the sea at night. The room is too small, everything else is good.
6. Seyeisfj?reur
Seyeisfj?reur
HafaldanHIHostel-OldHospitalBuilding(HafaldanHIHostel-OldHospitalBuilding)
(1 night) ISK16850
Old hospital ward renovated hotel, private bathroom, larger room, shared kitchen, with breakfast
Sueurgata, Seyeisfj?reur, Iceland
p>Excellent: Located in the center of town. There was originally an inpatient building in the town, but now the new hospital building is parked at the door next door. We arrived at midnight again, and the boss and his friends were sitting outside drinking wine and waiting for us, which was very heartwarming. You need to take off your shoes at the door, the interior is quite clean! The restaurant is open and has breakfast. With private bathroom.
I thought the old hospital would be a bit intrusive, but it's actually very cozy. The room is also big and the atmosphere is very good. If you don't draw the toilet curtains, you can look directly at passers-by.
Disadvantages: There are basically no shortcomings.
7. Hepburn H?fní Hornafirei
Old Airline Guesthouse (Old Airline Bed and Breakfast) (1 night) ISK16551
B&B, shared bathroom, breakfast included
p>
Hafnarbraut 24,780H?fnHornafirei, Iceland
Excellent: Town center, very close to the lobster restaurant. Next to the B&B is an electronics store, run by a proprietress. A 3-story building, we are on the 2nd floor. There are 2 bathrooms on the upper and lower floors, and there are not many rooms, so you don't have to wait. The kitchen facilities are complete and there is breakfast, but it is prepared per person. If you eat too much, it will be eaten by others. There is parking on both sides of the building, and when I arrived late, the parking spaces at the door were full. You also need to take off your shoes at the door for indoor hygiene.
Disadvantages: There are basically no shortcomings. My parents love to be clean.
8. Vík
Grand Guesthouse Gardakot (2 nights) ***420
B&B, private bathroom, The room is large in size and has exquisite decoration and soft furnishings
Gareakot, 871Vík, Iceland
Reservation platform: /gardakot
Excellent: Five-star praise! A couple, Mainly a B&B built by a hostess, it is a 20-minute drive from Vic town but very close to Church Beach. The owner's own house is nearby. Take off your shoes and coat at the door. The environment inside cannot be described as beautiful, it is simply amazing. It is also very suitable for a short stay. Booked room with private bathroom. The public areas are quite beautiful. It’s great to see the aurora here in winter. In the morning, the hostess will also make single pancakes for us to eat. There is also a traditional Icelandic breakfast that I cannot name, which is also pasta and is very delicious. We no longer work as a booking platform, and have switched to air
bnb. Those who are interested can use the link above and click the orange button in the upper right corner.
Missing: A little far away from Vic, in the middle of the path to the church beach, nothing else is wrong.
9. Keflavík
Guesthouse Alex by Keflavik Airport (Alex Keflavik Airport Hotel)
(1 night)ISK13050
p>Hotel, shared bathroom, very small room, breakfast included, airport shuttle bus included
Adalgata 60, 230 Keflavik, Iceland
Excellent: Because it was early in the morning The early flight departs from the hotel at around 5 o'clock. What's great is that there will be an airport bus connecting us starting at 4:30. The interior style is also very Nordic. Although the room is small, the sanitary conditions are acceptable. The toilet and bathroom are shared, and there is a sink in the room, which is a little more convenient. There are many common areas. You can actually move outside the room for reading or using a computer. The room is only for resting.
Disadvantage: The room is too small! Everything else is good.
