Will you clean the table after dinner?
Every time I eat in the canteen, I don't like to spit food scraps all over the table, and I don't clean up people when I leave.
Some people have bad habits. After eating, they throw their bowls and chopsticks at one end, and they don't care about the "hills" made of meat bones, fish bones or leftovers on the table.
There are many people in the canteen, the number of tables is limited, and the limited staff in the canteen have no time to clean the tables. Every time I look for a table with food, I feel sick and disgusted when I see those empty tables in a mess, and I feel helpless and angry that I can't sit down.
This first shows the huge defects in the management and service of the canteen, and also shows that some diners lack self-cultivation. Generally speaking, when dining in a hotel box, there will be a special waiter to clean up the desktop, chopsticks and food residue. However, in a public place like the company canteen, whether to keep the table clean after eating fully reflects a person's level of civilization.
I remember more than twenty years ago, an English businessman came to my father's small factory. According to the custom of our people, a guest came from afar and planned to arrange to entertain him in the grand hotel. However, British businessmen proposed to go to KFC. Because my spoken English is good, I just rest at home on weekends, so my father gave me the task of entertaining this British client.
We each ate a hamburger in KFC, plus two chicken legs and a drink. The management of this KFC restaurant also has the same problem. After eating, most guests left chicken bones, leftovers and plates on their seats, patted their bottoms and left. Then the waiter will come to clear the table soon.
When we left, the British businessman insisted on clearing the table by himself, then took the plates, poured the chicken bones and residues into the special trash can in the store, cleaned up the plates and piled them neatly at the closing place. I told him that the waiter would do it, but what he said impressed me deeply. He said, "We can clear the table in time to reduce the workload of the waiter and make it easier for the next diner to find an empty seat."
After listening to his words, I feel that the gap between me and him is equivalent to a Lei Feng. When we were young, we all experienced learning from Lei Feng. Like this foreigner, we naturally feel altruistic behavior from the heart. We really look like a living Lei Feng.
In fact, I have eaten KFC in other cities, and it is indeed the guests who clear the table and pour the food scraps themselves. The waiter just cleaned some desktops further with a rag.
But at that time, some diners in this restaurant continued the old habit of China people and asked the waiter to clean up after dinner. The waiter is naturally duty-bound to the desktop that the guests haven't cleaned up, so it slowly gives people the feeling that cleaning the table seems to be a waiter's business, not the diners themselves.
So, when dining in such a public place, should the waiter clean the table or the customer clean the table himself? Of course, if the customer doesn't clean up, this is naturally the task of the waiter. But if the waiter is not enough or has no time to clean up, there will be a disgusting scene I saw in the canteen.
Some people will naturally say that the number of waiters should be increased, but in this way, the operating costs of the catering industry will increase, and the increased costs will naturally be passed on to consumers. So the lowest operating cost is to let customers clean up themselves.
This gave me the idea of garbage sorting. Because in history, we have never had the habit of sorting garbage. Where there are garbage treatment plants, how to classify garbage has always been their business.
So in the impression of most people, garbage sorting is something that has nothing to do with themselves, just like cleaning the desktop after a meal. However, sorting garbage is much more difficult than clearing the table after a meal.
To do a good job in garbage classification, we must first change our concepts. Garbage sorting should be the obligation of every litterer. As for how to classify garbage, it is necessary to start education from primary school, which is the obligation of the education system.
Some producers of unconventional products should also have the obligation to mark in a certain position of the product: the product is eliminated after use and belongs to XX garbage. This can avoid the embarrassment of being at a loss when sorting garbage in the future.
Regardless of catering or garbage disposal, as long as every industry, every link and everyone does their part, everyone will do something within their power, which will not only make the whole dining process better, but also make garbage sorting easier.
As long as everyone gives a little love, the world will become a better place.
