The township jurisdiction was originally a part of Shunling and Yanzi Township in Changxing County. In the first year of Hongzhi in Ming Dynasty (1488), Anji was classified as Xiaofeng County in Jiu Nan Township, and 1949 belonged to Nanhu Township.
