Fuzhou is one of the important cities such as the urban agglomeration in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River, the economic zone on the west side of the Taiwan Strait, the Poyang Lake ecological economic zone and the former Central Soviet Area. Fuzhou is a prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of Jiangxi Province, which was called Linchuan in ancient times. Located in the hinterland of Yangtze River Delta, Pearl River Delta and Southeast Fujian Triangle. Surrounded by mountains on three sides, the territory is high in the south and low in the north. It belongs to the humid and rainy monsoon climate in the south, with a total area of 1.88 million square kilometers. As of June 2023, the city has jurisdiction over 2 districts and 9 counties. By the end of 2022, the permanent population of the city was 3.579 million.
Fuzhou is located in the east of Jiangxi Province, between north latitude11535'-18' and north latitude 26 29'-28 30', and is adjacent to Jianning County, Taining County, Guangze County and Shaoxian County in Fujian Province in the east. It is about 222 kilometers long from north to south and 169 kilometers wide from east to west, with a total area of 18800 square kilometers.

Fuzhou is surrounded by mountains in the east, south and west, with hills and valley basins in the middle. The terrain is high in the south and low in the north, and gradually inclines to the Poyang Lake Plain. The landform is dominated by hills, followed by mountains, hills and valley plains. There are more than 1000 meters above sea level, such as Bijia Mountain, Chu Yunfeng, Changping Mountain, Yang Jialing, huixianfeng and Jiutou Peak. Lushan Mountain is distributed in the southwest and west of Fuzhou, mainly including Dawang Mountain, Furong Mountain, Xiangshan Mountain and Xuemu Lingshan Mountain, among which Junfeng Mountain, the highest peak in the urban area, belongs to this mountain range.
