Is it possible to camp at Sailimu Lake with camping site recommendations?
Sailim Lake is a charming lake in Xinjiang. It is definitely a wonderful experience to choose to camp here in addition to tourist attractions. What you can look up at at night next to the lake is the extremely beautiful starry sky, and the sky above the plateau is purer. From the picture below, you will know that the starry sky you see here is like soaring in the universe. 1. Is it possible to camp at Sailimu Lake?
It is possible to camp. You can bring your own camping equipment or rent a camping hotel locally, but it is expensive. It is recommended to bring your own camping equipment and food. You can also rent the yurts of compatriots at that time. 2. Sailimu Lake Camping Site Selection
The camping location can be chosen by the lake or the Xihai grassland. 3. Some experiences of camping in Sailimu Lake
Sailimu Lake is one of the most beautiful lakes in Xinjiang, because when I was traveling by car in Xinjiang, I stayed one night on the mountain of Sailimu Lake. I rented a yurt from a local Kazakh compatriot. Although it was not camping, I still had some experience of the night at Sailimu Lake, so I would like to share it with my friends.
The starry sky at Sailimu Lake at night. This is the starry sky of Sailimu Lake taken at night when we stayed in Sailimu Lake. Due to serious light pollution in the mainland, we cannot see so many stars. It was the first time for my daughter, who was born in Qingdao, to see such a brilliant Milky Way. She was very excited and stayed with her until late at night to take pictures. So it is a good idea to stay one night at Sailimu Lake.
The lake water has a high degree of mineralization and is brackish, so it is not drinkable. Therefore, you must bring water when camping by the lake. Kazakh herdsmen by the lake also buy water.
Sailim Lake on satellite map. The small red dot in the lower right corner of Sailimu Lake in the picture is where we will stay for the night. After the picture was uploaded, the quality of the picture was greatly lost and it is not very clear, but it can still be seen.
This is a detailed satellite picture. The yellow part in the picture was an ethnic village at that time. There were many yurts for rent and accommodation. It is not clear whether they are still there now. The red circle is where we stayed at that time. On the edge of the forest, the blue top of the mountain is where I went to take pictures of the sunrise in the morning. I climbed to the top of the mountain with my camera on my back early in the morning and took a picture of the sunrise over Sailimu Lake.
I haven’t been to many lakes in Xinjiang. For example, I didn’t go to the famous Kanas Lake because I couldn’t book a hotel. I have always thought that Sailimu Lake is the most beautiful lake in Xinjiang, especially when the weather is fine. Going west along the Lianhuo Expressway and looking down from the highest point, the Sailimu Lake you see is intoxicatingly beautiful: in the distance The snow-capped mountains, the green grass beside the lake, the shallow part of the lake is light green, and further inside is the dark blue against the sky, the beauty is indescribable. Therefore, there is a saying that there is a kind of blue called Sailimu Lake Blue, and another saying is: the last tear of the Atlantic Ocean.
Sailimu Lake Blue. This is the blue color of Sailimu Lake taken on the shoulder of the Lianhuo Expressway. It can’t capture the surrounding green lake and the blue look in the middle that can be seen from a high place, but this blue tone is already intoxicating.
We were a group of two cars and six people from two families. We went to Horgos first. When we went there, we contacted a young Kazakh named Mulati and stayed in his yurt at night. We did not live in an ethnic village in a yurt next to the forest at the foot of the mountain.
The yurt we rented. The white dome is where the smoke is coming from, and the roast lamb and hand-caught lamb are being cooked for us. This is their flock of 500 sheep. The sheep were kept in the jungle behind the yurt at night, separated by barbed wire and guarded by several dogs. When asked why there were so many dogs guarding the sheep, they were told that it was to prevent wolves from stealing the sheep at night.
Ethnic Village. Looking from the yurt where we stayed in the direction of Sailimu Lake, we can see a large yurt, which is the place marked as ethnic village in yellow in Figure 3. Most tourists live in this location, where they can experience the scenery of Sailim Lake and it is extremely convenient to go to the lake. It is also better to taste the Kazakh-style food. I wanted to take photos of the sunrise and climb mountains in the morning, so I lived a little further away.
Mulati’s wife is making hand-caught mutton for us. Fresh, original mutton costs 120 yuan per kilogram. We bought 4 kilograms, and the young man made part of it into roast mutton, and his wife made the rest into hand-caught mutton. We had a mutton feast in the evening.
Mulati’s daughter. Mulati has a 2-year-old daughter who has lived with her parents by Sailimu Lake since she was a child.
We gave the very sweet honey with honeycombs bought from Hemu to the little girl. The little girl was very wary and refused to eat anything given by outsiders. She only started eating after getting confirmation from her mother.
Sunrise at Sailimu Lake. We went out before dawn in the morning, carrying our equipment and tripod. We stayed here just for the sunrise the next day. The sunrise at Sailimu Lake is spectacular. The rising sun illuminates the sky red. This is the prominence at sunrise.
As the sun gradually rises and the golden glory of the morning sun fades, the yurt we live in can be clearly seen. Take a picture from the top of the mountain in the west: the red arrow in the picture points to the yurt where we stay at night. The early-rising sheep were already grazing on the hillside, dotted with a few horses.
Looking to the west, there are continuous mountains. The alpine desert in the distant mountains is clearly visible, and there is even white snow.
The sun is getting higher and higher, facing the east. I give my tripod and equipment bag a souvenir: they have followed me to climb so many mountains. Although I am carrying them, they are It is because of their existence that I took so many photos.
The forest is close at hand, and I am in it, so I will take a close-up of the forest.
The hillsides are dotted with these obese animals that look like rabbits, but not quite. It's also the cunning rabbit's three caves: bask in the sun at the entrance of the cave, and immediately escape into the cave when there is any disturbance. I captured one with a 70-200mm lens. The focal length of the lens is still too short to capture very detailed shots. At this time, I feel that I need a lens of more than 400mm. 4. Some suggestions for camping in Sailimu Lake
a. Keep warm.
The altitude of Sailimu Lake is more than 2,000 meters. If you camp on the mountainside, the altitude will be even higher, so the temperature is extremely low at night. I feel it is within 10 degrees. It feels very cold when taking photos of the Milky Way. , so keeping warm when camping is the first priority.
b. Windproof and rainproof.
Because water vapor from the Atlantic Ocean can come over Sailimu Lake, the wind is still relatively strong and there is a lot of rain. Camping tents should be set up to prevent wind and rain and make plans in advance, such as the choice of location and tool selection. Get ready.
c. Prevent wild animals.
I heard from the Kazakh guy who stayed at our hotel that there were wolves in the mountains, so he kept several dogs to guard the sheep. Therefore, if you camp on the side of the mountains, you must have this plan in place. If there are few people, it is better not to do it. Good for camping.
d. Water and electricity must be prepared.
The water mineralization in Sailimu Lake is relatively high. Although it is extremely clear and can be seen to a depth of 12 meters, it is not drinkable. Local herders buy water for lighting; Solar energy and batteries, so be prepared for both aspects of camping.
e. It is much safer to live in the yurts of Kazakh compatriots
We are renting yurts of Kazakh compatriots, and the safety factor is much higher. Delicious mutton, Saili There are many customs and beautiful scenery in Muhu that can be appreciated and experienced, so it is recommended to rent a yurt.
In short, the night at Sailimu Lake is beautiful, the accommodation experience is great, you can eat delicious original mutton dinner, enjoy the bright starry sky, see the glorious sunrise, and harvest Saili Wood Lake Blue!
