1, symmetrical structure

When we are faced with some scenes that may not be suitable for using the trichotomy, such as some uncertain subjects, or when the whole scene can exist as the subject, we can use symmetrical composition to split the picture into two to create a visual balance. Different from dichotomy, you need to set the center of gravity. As the basic form of geometric aesthetics, symmetry is often used in composition.

As the name implies, symmetrical composition can be folded, whether it is left-right symmetry or up-down symmetry. But the symmetry mentioned here is not mirror symmetry in a narrow sense, but should include contrast symmetry in a broad sense. We can use a line to divide the picture equally, and then there is an equivalent correlation between the contents on both sides of the picture, which is symmetrical composition.

2. Use guide lines/surfaces to enhance the perspective effect.

The line that converges on the subject or focus is called a guide line. There are two kinds of guiding lines, one is to point to the subject from the periphery of the picture, which makes the subject more prominent, and the other is to guide the viewer's line of sight along the narrative direction of the picture as a composition of the picture itself.

When the picture needs to be more dynamic, guide lines can play a key role. But all guiding lines are not only straight lines, but also curves. The guiding line can be not only tangible, but also intangible. Guiding lines exist in every corner of the world we live in, such as the edges of roads, bridges, buildings, tree trunks, roadside fences, and even the distant horizon.

3. Shallow depth of field

Shallow depth of field can not be regarded as a "composition" method in the strict sense, but it is actually a good choice to fill the picture with suburban parts to enrich the picture. Especially when the subject in the picture is not clear, or the background in the picture will interfere with the expression of the subject, the aperture can be opened to reduce the depth of field, and the performance of the subject can be enhanced by separating the subject from the background, which will also produce a more stereoscopic feeling and increase the depth of the picture.
