What is IMAX?

IMAX refers to the maximum value of the image.

IMAX, the abbreviation of Image Maximum, means maximum image, which is a film production, conversion and projection system with higher resolution, sharpness and brightness, greater contrast and full color gamut coverage.

The whole system includes IMAX camera, IMAX DMR (Digital Original Reproduction Technology) and IMAX giant screen projection system which specially projects IMAX films.

Sources and advantages

Since Avatar, the word IMAX has spread rapidly in China, and it has become the first choice for high-quality movies. The reason why IMAX has such a good reputation is that IMAX has its own set of processes from shooting to screening, which ensures the quality of viewing to the greatest extent. For example, the iPhone in the mobile phone is controlled by itself from software to hardware, which naturally ensures the best user experience.

Compared with ordinary screens, IMAX can bring larger display area and better picture quality. At the beginning of shooting, there was a special IMAX camera. Different from ordinary 35 mm film, the resolution of 70mm film used in IMAX camera is 10 times higher than that of 35mm film, and it is also more advantageous than that of 35mm film in picture.
