The wide-angle end is equivalent to 24mm (it can shoot a wider scene), and the whole process reaches the maximum aperture of F2.8, and the aperture reaches 72 mm Coupled with the dustproof and waterproof design and the ultrasonic motor, the cost is much higher and the imaging effect is better.

The lenses of DT 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 SAM consist of 8 lenses and 7 groups, including 2 aspheric lenses and 1 ED ultra-low dispersion lenses. The wide-angle end is only equivalent to 27mm (the focal length of the wide-angle end is shorter than 1mm), and the maximum aperture is only f3.5 (wide-angle end) and F5.6.

Photographic equipment is like this, a penny for each item, two cents for each item, and three dollars for each item. DT 16-50 is definitely better than DT 18-55. Of course, this imaging gap is not as big as their price gap.

If money is not bad, it is definitely better to choose the former. If the price is sensitive, the budget is limited. The latter can also meet general needs.
