Especially for outdoor shooting, finding the best light angle and light projection scene is a key to test our photographer's eyesight. Moreover, these abilities require not only methods and skills, but also enough patience and daily care. Don't rush to shoot when you don't find a suitable shooting scene or venue. You'd rather shoot for a short time and find a good scene first. After all, a good beginning is half the battle.

First, how to make good use of natural light when shooting outdoors

Portrait photography in Taobao usually takes the form of location shooting. The unique location can better reflect the design concept, consumption environment and consumption season, simulate the real experience of customers, and give consumers an immersive imagination space. At the same time, the outdoor shooting light is natural and uniform, which can be shot except rain and snow. The scene is rich, the background changes quickly, the outdoor space is open without lighting restrictions, and the body language and movements of the model are more diverse.

Outdoor natural light shooting on sunny days is rich in color, uniform in light, relatively less difficult to shoot, and the models are diverse and natural, so it is easy to shoot excellent works, so many photographers also like outdoor shooting. However, it must be said that the heat in summer and the cold in winter are also major tests for models. As we all know, the shooting season of e-commerce is one quarter ahead of schedule, so many times winter clothes such as down are taken in summer, and summer clothes such as T-shirts and skirts are taken in winter, which is also the characteristic of this industry.

In the case of outdoor natural light, the light is even and transparent, so as long as the background conditions permit, there is no problem shooting 360 degrees, and almost one camera and one board can be used (camera plus reflector). But if you want to shoot more wonderful works, you need higher requirements to deal with location shooting, at least from two aspects, one is the selection of scenery, and the other is the clever use of light.

Second, try to find a suitable shooting scene.

In many of our Taobao clothing portraits, many scenes are common to everyone, or some good shooting locations that can be thought of under the conventional thinking mode, such as parks, scenic spots, grasslands, sites of modern ancient buildings and so on. But what people don't notice is that there are always photographers who can face the same model and equipment in the same place and shoot different films. Why?

Then the main reason may be that some photographers have better eyesight than ordinary people and have higher ability to observe and capture pictures. For them, what they can see in their eyes is difficult for ordinary people to explore. When looking for a scene, they think more about the composition of the lens picture. At the same time, for them, when shooting, they can adjust the shooting angle and height quickly and reasonably according to the author's judgment ability, and at the same time, they can make timely and effective use of the existing site conditions to readjust and build different scenes.

For junior photographers, it is impossible to reach the professional level mentioned by the author above overnight, and they need to explore in countless shots and summaries, which are precisely the qualities of an excellent photographer.

So for the author, every time I shoot outside, I will look around during the interval of model dressing, even in places I am familiar with but have taken countless times. This has two purposes, one is to be familiar with the scenes involved in shooting, and the other is to find some newer and better angles or places with light.

(1) Looking for a scene with a transparent background

The scene with transparent background has a good sense of space and is easy to create a good depth of field effect. Bright background and shallow depth of field can highlight the figure's outline and body language, and charming Jiao Wai effect can make the picture full of artistic conception. Of course, I suggest using 70-200mm telephoto lens or 85mm/ 1.250/ 1.4, 35mm/ 1.4 fixed-focus lens in lens selection, and the films made by these lenses have good Jiao Wai blur effect. I usually use 70-200mm/2.8 lens, because the focal length is wide, zoom is convenient, depth of field, Jiao Wai effect and image quality are guaranteed, and the comprehensive performance is relatively balanced. Let's explain the relevant aspects with several groups of works.

First, let's look at the first group of works. Plenty of sunshine, lawns, green plants and big trees can be ideal shooting scenes for fresh works. At this time, we usually shoot along the direction of the forest, from near to far, from real to virtual, and the background space extends linearly to the distance. It is best not to have large obstacles in the distant background, so that the sense of space in the picture will be good. At the same time, people should pay attention to avoid direct light when standing, or it is ok to have a little light directly above the head in the shade. The position of the reflector is generally opposite to the direction of light projection, so that the light can be properly distributed to the dark parts of the characters. Pay attention to adjusting the distance between the reflector and the characters by using the matching principle of light-dark ratio.

Exif information can actually reveal a lot of shooting skills and experience. Aperture, shutter, ISO and focal length are all closely related. The choice of each numerical value will directly affect the choice and judgment of other numerical values, and the accurate combination of these four numerical values is also a powerful embodiment of testing the photographer's ability.

For example, the aperture used by the author here is 4 instead of the maximum aperture of 2.8. Because the aperture of 2.8 is not the embodiment of the best image quality of this lens, in order to make the picture have enough shallow depth of field blur effect, the author sets the focal length to 173mm, while shooting with a telephoto segment means that it is easy to cause picture jitter, so the shutter is set to a safe shutter index of 1/250 seconds, so the ISO must be raised to 200.

At the same time, the distance between the background picture and the characters is also a problem that we need to consider and judge quickly, that is, whether the background elements can be well blurred in the picture.

As shown in the figure below, the fuzzy degree of the crown is just right. If it is sunny and direct sunlight, you can imagine the beautiful Jiao Wai halo dotted around the light-transmitting part of the crown. The background part is too far away, if it is completely blurred, it will become a green fog, and the layering and texture of the picture will be greatly weakened. Judging this distance is a process in which practice makes perfect. On weekdays, you can practice more when shooting on location, quickly judge the position of the model and your own position, achieve the best distance-space ratio, and form a good Jiao Wai effect.

Because the shooting day was cloudy, the light was not strong but uniform, so I set the ISO value to 320, which was already a relatively high value, and the shutter of1125 was to match the shutter exceeding1125-/kloc-0.

In addition, it is also important to control the standing posture, shooting position and distance of the model. Using the Jiao Wai blur effect of a good lens, an ordinary street space can be compressed to the back of the picture, the characters can be well separated from the background, and the three-dimensional sense and space sense of the characters can be shaped by the supplementary light of the flash.

In order to compress the picture space well, I shot with the focal length of 140mm, and adjusted the aperture value to 3.5 to blur the background as much as possible. The shutter speed of1125 combined with the focal length of 140mm is my safe shutter index, so I can't guarantee that I can stabilize the lens with a lower shutter. Moreover, because the shooting light was weak at that time, the author set the ISO value to 500, but the high sensitivity level of digital cameras is still good, generally below 800.

Tips: In the shooting environment with direct sunlight, we usually try to make the model stand in the shadow or under the background light to shoot, so as to avoid the phenomenon of "painting face" caused by uneven sunlight on the model's face or clothes, and at the same time, make the clothes not exposed accurately, which leads to the texture distortion of the fabric.

Outdoor shooting on cloudy days, in order to improve the picture texture, can cooperate with the flash shooting. This will be explained in later chapters, so I won't repeat it here.

(2) Look for scenes with open space and clean background.

Shooting scenes with open space and clean background can present more spacious visual enjoyment, especially when used as some e-commerce network display pictures, customers prefer to choose this banner wide-screen picture as the first picture of product display, with clear model display, prominent picture focus and a large number of backgrounds left blank, which is also convenient for e-commerce customers to make overall web design.

Shooting the blank picture effect of large space and large scene is a very popular shooting method for e-commerce merchants. Generally speaking, two points should be paid attention to when shooting in large space. First, keep the space open; The second is to keep the background simple and clean.

For example, in the following picture, the author takes the distant tree barrier as the foreground and the nearby plant green belt as the close shot, and lowers the camera position to be highly parallel to the green belt, thus forming a sense of picture extension between models. At the same time, low-angle shooting can also ensure the effective formation of obvious virtual-real transition effect in the picture.

At the same time, we should pay attention to the control of shooting distance. Here, the distance between the author and the model and the background is about 10m m. The distance is too far, the blur transition, the background can not be well reflected in the picture, and the distance is too close to form an effective blur effect. The background image may also be too realistic to highlight the outline effect of people and clothes.

Here I adjust the aperture to 4.5, one is to ensure the clarity of image quality, and the other is to control the depth of field. The distant forest form should still be intact. If it turns green, it will lose interest.

For the following group of high-end fur luxury clothing shooting, the author chose to shoot in a luxury club of a high-end real estate, which can well set off the quality, connotation and customer orientation of the clothing.

Because the space in the clubhouse will not be too big, we should pay attention to observe it from different angles and find a suitable large space background. The picture below shows the shooting at a higher angle. European-style columns in the foreground, European-style corridors in the foreground and lines of diamond-shaped floor tiles on the ground form a good spatial extension in the picture. European-style crystal lights on the roof just form the spatial transition between the foreground and the foreground, and the crystal lights in front of the camera blur the gas field, further increasing the layering of the picture.

Compared with a picture taken in a parallel plane, it is not difficult to find that the sense of spatial depth in the picture below is obviously weak and the composition is cramped. There are too many lines and blocks in the back of the model, and the color of the plants on the left is too heavy, so the background is a bit messy, but it also lacks the background, which greatly weakens the layering of the picture.

Tips: If you want to explore an open scene in a limited space, you must be good at observation and analysis, pay attention to the distance between the foreground and the middle scene, properly control the blurring degree of Jiao Wai, and don't pursue the blurring effect excessively. At the same time, there are many considerations such as composition and location. The creation of space depends on the composition of points, lines and planes, especially the lines extending from the middle scene to the foreground, followed by the background of the foreground.

(3) Discover unique light and shadow and composition.

Light and shadow and composition are two key factors that determine whether a good photo can be taken. In photography, light is the cause and shadow is the result, so the control of light in the combination of light and shadow is extremely important, and the combination of light and shadow is just like the contrast between light and shade, as long as it is controlled reasonably, it can be wonderful. At the same time, how to compose a picture is also very important, which directly affects the overall visual effect of the whole shot picture and the expression of the primary and secondary information of the picture, and determines whether the shot picture can present a better look and feel.

Let's analyze several groups of works.

Observing the following works, the dividing line between light and dark on the background wall divides the picture into two, which increases the formal sense of the overall visual sense of the picture, with the focus on the model. Here we adjust the distance between the model and the background wall in the front and back pictures, from emphasizing the sense of space and momentum of the picture to embodying the artistic conception and texture of the characters. The same scene is reflected by different compositions and positions. The composition of the second picture is very important for cutting motorcycles, and it is also intended to weaken the proportion of motorcycle pictures, which can make the character temperament and clothing characteristics more prominent. In addition, for this style of men's clothing shooting, the author uses the effect of sunshine side projection, deliberately emphasizing the figure outline and three-dimensional sense to distinguish it from women's clothing shooting.

When shooting in indoor environments such as clubs, hotels, bars, etc., we can look for some scenes similar to the picture, try to use some spatial patterns with a sense of direction and extension to compose the picture, reasonably guide the position of the model, and use various lines in the venue to enrich the layering of the picture.

The following three pictures draw the main body of the character with the line direction of bar and stairs respectively. The sense of space created by this composition will not let customers see the picture at a glance, but can shift their eyes to the main body of the characters along the depth direction of the lines, resulting in a sense of story and emotional resonance.

Due to the limited background distance and shallow depth of field, the black and gray background color is not conducive to the prominent characters. However, it is found that there is local sunlight projection in the scene environment, which can be used as the top light, and it is easy to outline the figure of the character. In addition, due to the high-light outline between the characters and the background, the problem of prominent characters is effectively solved, and at the same time, the obvious brightness distribution effect of black, white and gray is created.

When shooting on location, don't miss the similar scene of local top light projection in the picture below. As long as we grasp the position of the model, the position and composition of the camera, and set the numerical combination of aperture, shutter, ISO and focal length reasonably, we will be able to shoot different exterior works.

(4) Make the picture more layered.

Ingeniously find the right shooting angle and position, so that the background is no longer rigid, and the combination of close-up and distant view can make the picture have a richer sense of hierarchy.

This is a group of works shot in the church at the top of the hillside. The height of the forest in the distance is different from our perspective on the flat land. We use a lower plane to find more levels and relationships in the picture. The plane seat is almost close to the steps where the model sits, and the height of the forest in the distance does not cover the whole picture, but leaves some gaps. The blurring of the nearby steps, the blurring of the middle wall, the Jiao Wai in the distant forest, the blank space at the top of the picture, and a good plane seat can make the picture full of layers and scenery.

The difference between the two films lies in composition and focal length. After comparison, it can be found that the picture with obvious horizontal composition is better, precisely because the completeness of the front, middle and far scenes of horizontal composition is reflected in the picture plus points.

The door of the church divides the picture into two parts horizontally, and at the same time creates a particularly good vertical depth of field of the picture. The transparency of the window makes the interior of the church no longer dead black, and the Jiao Wai blur effect of the window also creates a sense of hierarchy and space.

If you want to create a sense of hierarchy in local space, it is very important to choose the focal length of the lens. In the shooting of previous works, the focus of the author was all adjusted to 70-00, but in this one, we used a fixed-focus lens of 50/ 1.4, which showed a more relaxed composition effect in a local space. As shown in the figure, the left figure is blank, creating a sense of depth and space. if

Take the second picture as an example. After cutting the 90 focal length picture, the momentum of the picture is much weaker, and there is no blank space at the top of the picture, so the overall feeling is relatively rigid.

It was already 5: 30 in the afternoon when this film was made, and the sun almost completely set, so the effective shooting time was short, but it was also easy to make beautiful films. At this time, we should grasp the diffuse light of the golden sunset, because at this time, the whole sky is like a soft cloth or a reflector, reflecting the afterglow of the sunset, with particularly transparent and uniform light and rich colors.

At the same time, the lights on the external wall of the clubhouse have also been turned on, so that the light irradiation of people and the environment can be unified. The author still uses a bigger perspective in composition. The above picture completely shows the facade of the European club building, which complements the elegant model temperament. The blue ground swimming pool and the arc extension form the contrast of cold and warm colors and the transition of space. The facade of the building is blurred to a moderate degree, which allows us to see the facade structure clearly, but it will not affect our appreciation of the fabric and silhouette of the clothing.

Using a wide-angle lens is also an effective way to find the layering of the picture. It is easy to create more layers by blending some big environmental backgrounds into the picture, and at the same time, when we turn up the lens, we may find deeper space.

Take the following two pictures as an example. When shooting, I asked the model to keep moving forward and take a snapshot, so the shutter value should be kept at 400, and the position composition was designed in advance. Then let the model take two steps back and stride forward, so it is not so easy to complete reasonable focusing and composition in an instant. As far as my experience is concerned, it is suggested to calculate the position of the model at the moment of shooting before shooting, and then try to focus on the ground of the position first and construct the picture in advance.

When we shoot in a complicated background and poor lighting conditions, we can try to create some layering and lighting effects to enrich the picture, enhance the picture texture of the work and make it unique.

Take the following groups of works as examples. The shooting time is around 3 pm, and there is plenty of light, and the light in the Woods is mottled. It is a common light and shadow scene in the Woods. The chiffon tulle in the picture is prepared by the author in advance, because I want to try this method before shooting. What's it like to make a movie?

Sunlight shines through the thin chiffon tulle and casts shadows on it. It looks very beautiful and has a dreamy feeling, which complements the characteristics and tonality embodied in the fabrics and styles of clothing. At the same time, the thin tulle separates the model from the messy background environment, and at the same time, it has the projection of light and shadow, creating a soft and dreamy girlish style picture. In addition, the silver reflector is used to supplement the light when shooting, which makes the light and shadow effect of the picture more perfect.

In fact, there are many similar methods. In order to create the layering and lighting effect of the picture, the author used a lot of mirrors to let the model stand in the shadow first, and then used the reflection of many mirrors to project the characters, which also achieved good results.

The competition in e-commerce photography market is fierce. In our usual e-commerce photography, we must learn to constantly improve our shooting level and add more ingenious ideas. Constant photography will eventually disappear from everyone. We can usually read more fashion magazines and websites, absorb more visual inspiration and use it reasonably, and put it into practice.
