Why are there so many snails after the rain?

Snails usually hide in a dark and humid environment because they are suitable for living in a humid environment. Snails can only come out to breathe fresh air and look for food when it is raining and wet. If the weather is dry, the water in the body decreases rapidly and there is a danger of death, so there are many snails after the rain.

Snails are mollusks and like to live in wet places. When the climate is dry, snails hide in cool roots, walls and grass, retract their bodies into their shells, and seal their shells with mucus secreted by their feet to sleep.

However, in rainy days, the rain poured into the shell and soaked the mucus at the mouth of the shell, thus awakening the dormant snails, so these "little guys" who squirmed their bodies by secreting mucus containing a lot of water under their feet leaned out of the shell, stretched their soft bodies and moved slowly. Therefore, every time after the rain, we can find swarms of snails slowly appearing in our sight.

Extended data:

Snails like to live in a dark, humid, loose and humus-rich environment and come out at night. They are most afraid of direct sunlight and sensitive to environmental reactions. Their most suitable environment: temperature16 ~ 30℃ (the fastest growth and development occurs at 23 ~ 30℃), air humidity 60% ~ 90%, soil humidity 40% or so, and pH value 5 ~ 7.

When the temperature is lower than 15℃, it will hibernate when it is higher than 33℃, and it may freeze or heat to death when it is lower than 5℃ or higher than 40℃. But all kinds of snails are different.

Snails like to burrow into loose humus soil to inhabit, lay eggs, adjust the humidity in their bodies and absorb some nutrients for as long as 12 hours. Omnivorous food and partial eclipse coexist. Love humidity, fear flooding. Snails have a good appetite when they eat wet food on wet nights.
