3dmax is one of the most commonly used 3D animation software. Only by modeling, adding materials, mapping and rendering can we make a realistic picture. So if you want to learn 3dmax, you still need to find some professional tutorials, so that you can get twice the result with half the effort. For this reason, many professional 3dmax courses are provided, including 3D software use, rendering of renderings, basic modeling courses, VRay rendering, lighting material use, interior design, mapping and other video courses. Therefore, if you want to learn 3D modeling, you must watch the tutorial of Feather Rabbit.

How to make leaves with opacity map in 3DMax?

In this case, we can use opacity map to make leaves. Using this method, we can also make petals, grass or hair and so on.

Let's take a look at the final rendering effect.

In the final rendering effect, we can see that each leaf can show the shape of the leaf. There are many methods we can use when making the final rendering effect. The first method can use the model method, we can create the shape of each leaf, and the other method can create a plane and use the mapping method to make it.

We open the Material Editor and click a material ball. By default, it is a standard material and named as a leaf.

Then add a leaf texture map on the diffuse reflection channel,

Then check the opacity,

On the opaque channel, add a black-and-white map of a leaf.

What we need to pay attention to is that the middle part of the leaf needs to be adjusted to the surrounding white and black. Its design principle is to add a black-and-white map to the opacity, and the model will be presented according to the black-and-white map when rendering in the future.

Then click Show in Viewport and give the material,

Give the front leaves a linear effect,

After the production, we can see that it is completely different from the original leaf shape.

So I used the opaque method I just mentioned, and didn't render the unnecessary parts, but kept the middle parts.

Finally, press c to switch to the camera view, and then render to get the final rendering effect.
