The Truman Show: Truman lived a fake life for the first half of his life and finally escaped successfully. What phenomenon does the movie reveal?
Previously. I once watched a little bit of "The Truman Show" on TV, and I have a very vivid memory. I remember that it was the part where the hero Truman escaped from his "world". I remember that he opened a door in the seemingly boundless blue sky and walked out without hesitation.
After that, I have never forgotten this movie, but I can no longer remember the name of the movie. I also forgot the name of the male protagonist. By chance, I finally figured out the title of the movie and the name of the actor who played the leading role. I understood this when reading an introduction about American star Kelly King. Most of Kelly King's movies feature witty and humorous images, but in "The Truman Show", although it is still humorous, it also has a deeper sense of stability.
The movie tells the story of the protagonist Truman, who has lived in Taoyuan Island-a large studio since he was born. Truman was selected by a camera crew to be the protagonist of a large-scale reality show - of course, he himself was unaware of it. His living environment, friends, wife, job, and even his parents are all fake. He has been living in this false world for 30 years, until his father, who has been resurrected from the dead, comes back. His father "died" in the sea 23 years ago due to plot needs - in order to make Truman afraid of water and unable to leave Taoyuan Island. However, the actor who played Truman's father was not reconciled, so he tried every means to sneak into the studio to see Truman secretly. In order not to arouse Truman's suspicion, the camera crew had to make up an excuse to let him re-participate in Truman's world. But this incident has put a question mark in Truman's mind, but he was temporarily confused by the joy of reuniting with his father.
What really aroused Truman's suspicion was that he wanted to leave Taoyuan Island to find his first love girl, but he found that no one would let him leave Taoyuan Island. And by chance, he discovered that someone was watching him, and all the pedestrians on the street acted according to other people's instructions. He begins to wonder and searches for the truth. Eventually, he overcame his fear of water and found the exit by himself in a boat.
This movie reveals some of the shortcomings of today's society - it is full of lies. The world where Truman lives is very harmonious. Without the darkness of today's society, everything would be ordinary. But, this is just for all viewers, this Taoyuan Island is a place of people’s dreams. However, for Truman, this is a world full of lies. Truman would rather live in a real world full of darkness than live in a false world of peace and joy. The film also satirizes those who create bigger lies for their own desires. It's an intriguing movie.
After watching the movie, you can't help but ask yourself: Is it better to have a real world full of darkness, or a false dream world of joy and harmony? I prefer reality.
