What is the difference between an outbound tour leader and a tour guide?

Tour leader refers to taking tourists abroad. The focus of the team leader’s work is to lead the team, supervise overseas agencies and handle entry and exit. The focus of the tour guide's work is tourism reception and scenic spot explanation.

The tour leader generally refers to the tour guide who leads the outbound group, that is, the overseas tour leader, who is the person sent by the tour group agency to accompany the tourists throughout the journey abroad. The requirements for a tour leader are higher than those for a tour guide. The tour leader is often an experienced tour guide and must obtain tour leader qualifications.

The tour leader should have a certain level of proficiency in English or the language of the destination country/region. Some provinces also require that the tour leader should have more than one year of tour guide experience and lead more than 5 tours before taking up the job. Tour guides are required to have good language expression and communication skills, master knowledge of local humanities, history, and geography, and have strong organizational skills in linking up and down, connecting internal and external, and coordinating left and right.
