Grace ·Andrews and Jim Halsey were a young couple. During the school holidays, they decided to go on a self-driving trip across the United States. They drove the 1970 Oldsmobile 442 on the road, but the journey was not as pleasant as they expected. Before they went far, the two began to have small frictions of one kind or another. What they don't know is that this is just a prelude to the hellish nightmare that will follow. The process of traveling by car is long and boring, so when Grace and Jim find someone on the side of the road reaching out for a ride, they pick him up, which can effectively reduce the space for the two to quarrel. The hitchhiker introduced himself as John Wilder and liked to chatter about himself, but the more information John revealed, the more frightened Grace and Jim became, until John said that he had just killed the last driver who was hitchhiked.
