A year-on-year increase of 198.2%, and an increase of 6.6% on a comparable basis compared with 2019.

2. Shanghai: 15.6494 million tourists were received.

According to Shanghai tourism big data monitoring, Shanghai received 15.6494 million tourists during the five-day holiday. Shanghai's major tourist attractions received a total of 6.38 million tourists, returning to the level of the same period in 2019. According to statistics, the average room occupancy rate of Shanghai hotels during the May Day holiday was 71%, an increase of 12 percentage points from the May Day holiday in 2019.

3. Hangzhou: Received 6.3552 million tourists.

According to the Hangzhou Municipal Culture, Radio, Television and Tourism Bureau, during the May Day holiday this year, Hangzhou received 6.3552 million foreign tourists, a year-on-year increase of 289.89%; the average daily reception volume reached 1.2711 million, compared with the same period in 2019 This compares to an increase of 20.8%. The proportion of tourists from outside the province has further increased, accounting for 48%, the highest value since 2020.

4. Chengdu: Received 264,000 tourists.

According to comprehensive estimates, during the May Day holiday, Chengdu *** received 19.394 million tourists, a year-on-year increase of 42.5%, and a comparable increase of 23.1% compared with 2019 (the growth rate is 4 percentage points higher than the national level) .

5. Guangzhou: Received nearly 520,000 tourists.

According to preliminary estimates, Guangzhou will receive 10.58 million tourists during the May Day holiday in 2023, a year-on-year increase of nearly 54%. The number of tourists received and cultural tourism consumption both exceeded the levels of the same period in 2019, increasing by 9% and 13% respectively, reaching new highs in recent years.
