Argentina's Glacier National Park

Its fame lies in the fact that it is one of the few 'alive' glaciers in the world, where you can see the spectacle of ice collapse every day. In 1945, Argentina listed it as a national park for protection, and in 1981, it was listed as a United Nations World Natural Heritage. The collapse of the Moreno Glacier in March this year attracted the attention of countries around the world.

Flight route: If you travel in Argentina, you basically need to transfer to Calafate via the capital Buenos Aires. If your destination is Calafate and Ushuaia, it is recommended to choose the flight sequence "Buenos Aires-Calafate-Ushuaia". Why? Just check the departure and landing times of your flight tickets and you will understand~

Airline choice: Argentina’s two mainstream airlines are Chilean Airlines and Aerolineas Argentinas. The fare is not expensive and the service is okay.

Purchasing tickets: I used "Fliggy", and the price advantage is not obvious (but it is not expensive either). One APP can handle everything, convenient.

Transportation to the airport: very convenient! You can buy shuttle tickets directly from the airport. Every time a flight arrives, a car will take the passengers directly to the city - directly to the hotel. The price is 100 pesos (approximately RMB 40).

1. You can fly from Buenos Aires, the capital of Argentina, to the town of Calafate, and then take the twice-daily shuttle bus from the town’s bus station into the national park, directly to the nearby Moreno Glacier. Other glaciers require expensive boats and no roads to reach. 2. There are no accommodation facilities near the glacier, and tourists stay in the town of Calafate. During the peak season (December to January), rooms are very tight during holidays or weekends. Best to book in advance. 3. The suitable season to visit is November to February in the southern hemisphere, with the average temperature being 10 to 17 degrees Celsius. In winter (June-August), the coldest temperature can reach minus 17 degrees Celsius. In the past 20 years, 32 people have died from falling ice while watching the ice collapse, so walking trails are now built at a safe distance.

Moreno Glacier

Among them, the Patagonia Ice Sheet is the largest ice-covered landmass in the southern hemisphere of the earth except Antarctica. There are 47 glaciers in the Argentine Glacier National Park that originate from the Patagonian Ice Field. Lake Argentina, where the park is located, receives the ice flow and obstruction of dozens of surrounding glaciers, the most famous of which is the Moreno Glacier.

Argentina Glacier National Park is located in southern Argentina, on the east side of the Patagonia Mountains in the Southern Andes Mountains that runs through western South America, and belongs to the Argentine Santa Cruz Province of the Patagonian Plateau. The glacial lake where the park is located is called Lake Argentina, covering an area of ??1,414 square kilometers. It is located at a high latitude of 52 degrees south latitude, not far from Tierra del Fuego, the southernmost tip of South America, but very far from the capital Buenos Aires. It takes about 3 hours by plane. The nearest town is Calafate, 30 kilometers away. All travelers must visit Dhaka Kalafite before coming to Glacier National Park.
