Maoming Vocational and Technical College is a university jointly established by Guangdong Housing and Urban-Rural Development Department and Maoming Municipal People's Government. Its predecessor was Maoming Construction Secondary Technical School, which was founded in 1986 as a national key middle school. In 2004, with the approval of Guangdong Provincial People's Government and the record of Ministry of Education, it became the first full-time public higher vocational and technical college organized by Maoming Municipal People's Government.

Focusing on the regional economic growth point and the needs of industrial development, the school adjusts its professional structure, including architectural design, architectural engineering technology, architectural engineering management, road and bridge engineering technology, heating, ventilation and air conditioning engineering technology, engineering cost, petrochemical technology, applied chemistry technology, food nutrition and testing, food processing technology, cosmetics technology and electrical automation technology.
