The Historical Evolution of Tin Shui Wai

Tin Shui Wai was originally a walled village in Yuen Long, and it is a big fish pond (outside the base) like Nam Shing Wai. In the late 1970s, Tin Shui Wai Development Co., Ltd., headed by Changjiang Industry, acquired the land assets of Tin Shui Wai and planned to develop Tin Shui Wai in the form of a new town. 1982 The company reached an agreement with the Hong Kong government. The government announced the acquisition of all the land in Tin Shui Wai, and the new town in Tin Shui Wai was developed by the government. In the late 1980s, the government began to develop the new town of Tin Shui Wai. The surrounding fish ponds have been filled in and developed into a new town with houses as the main part. 1992, completion of Tianyao Village, the first public housing village in Tin Shui Wai, 1993, completion of Tian Rui Village. During the period from 1992 to 1998, the phases of Jiahu Mountain Villa developed by Changjiang Industry were successively moved in. In the early days, Lejuju and Tianyao Village were the central areas of Tin Shui Wai. With the opening of 1999 Haiyi kingswood ginza and Jiahu, Tin Shui Wai Park and kingswood ginza have become the centers of new towns. In the same year, the Tai Lam Tunnel was officially opened to traffic, and residents in Tin Shui Wai no longer need to rely on Tuen Mun Highway to travel to and from the urban area. The development of Tin Shui Wai North began at 1998. Due to the policy of Tung Chee-hwa Municipal Government to build 85,000 units per year, the height and density of public housing buildings in the north of Tin Shui Wai are higher than those in the south. The Kowloon-Canton Railway Branch Line and the Kowloon-Canton Light Rail were opened to traffic in 2003. The external traffic in Tin Shui Wai has been greatly improved. In 2006, the Hong Kong Wetland Park, located in the northeast of the new town of Tin Shui Wai, was officially opened, adding a new tourist attraction to the area.
