What are the specialties of Hawaii? What are some typical Hawaiian foods?
There are already too many travel guides about Hawaii as a tourist destination. Regardless of any holiday, there are always many tourists coming here. Most of them echo the beautiful scenery here, the blue sea and the horizon. Visitors from all over the world come back even more impressed by the beautiful scenery here. What I want to share with you today is about the food here. Those of us who come from different countries have adapted to the food of our own country, and it is not that easy to eat it in a foreign country.
Marugame Kame Noodles
Udon Noodles Address: 2310 Kuhio Avenue, Room 124; Honolulu, Hello 96815.
Recommendation index: four stars. It is very cost-effective and therefore highly praised online. Four stars here because in Waikiki, a land rich place, the quality is really worth the price. However, no matter how exquisite or unique the dishes are, it is actually pretty good. It is a good place to fill your stomach without spending too much money. About ten dollars per person.
This business is quite popular, and there is a long queue, but it is quick, so don’t be afraid. After entering the door, I seemed to be back in the university cafeteria. There is a huge menu on the wall. The chef who cooks the noodles works in a streamlined manner and his hands are extremely fast.
Everyone brings a plate, and after getting the noodles, you can add various side dishes, fried chicken, and tempura vegetables. It is quite rich and extremely cheap. It’s a heavy side dish, but only costs a buck or two.
The taste is okay, the noodles and fried chicken are both average. You can't expect to eat anything good for around ten bucks per person. The portion from noodles to dishes is huge, so when ordering noodles, the normal amount is enough, don’t increase it, and please use the side dishes according to your ability.
These delicacies are very tempting just looking at them.
Most diners match it this way. A bowl of fried pork noodles is not only easy to fill up, but also delicious.
Japanese Hot Pot Ichiriki-Japanes
Nabe Address: 510 Piikoi Street, Honolulu, Postal Code: 96814
Recommendation Index: Four stars, US$25 to US$30 per person . Features: Japanese hot pot. And the environment and taste are authentic. The facade is hard to find. It's on the second floor.
The facade is quite obvious.
All kinds of meat here are very fresh.
This bamboo tube meat is pickled. It just didn't taste good.
Taste: Ordered the curry pot, the bottom of the pot is very rich, and the beef and other dishes are relatively fresh.
There are many kinds of beef. You can choose according to your own preferences.
Vegetables are also available, but compared with Chinese hot pot, the types of vegetables are still relatively small, and the ingredients are still a bit limited for the same price.
Fried chicken and Ahi taste good. But the portion seems to be relatively small and not very tasty.
You can see that the types of meat products are divided very finely.
Here I would like to talk about this dish, Ahi Kutsa, which is very interesting. It's the kind of dish that's slightly burnt on the surface, but still has the texture and taste of sashimi inside, which is amazing. Generally, fresh fish is sliced, coated in flour and fried, but only one layer is fried, and then dipped in a special sauce, which is very delicious. However, I feel that the technique is very difficult. No wonder I have seen masters in other restaurants using a spray gun to directly heat the surface.
This dish is the first dish in this restaurant, and customers must order this dish.
There are also many kinds of pot bottoms, you can choose according to your own preferences.
Mei Morning Tea Mei Xin Desserts
Address: 1170 Nunu Avenue, Honolulu 96817
Recommended index: four and a half stars, less than $20 per person.
Features: Cantonese morning tea. I didn't think there were many Chinese residents in Hawaii, but I didn't expect there to be a Chinatown.
Although the scale is not too large, it has all kinds of domestic restaurants and pharmacies.
Although the photos of such shops are small, there are still many people coming here, and many of the regular customers are local residents.
I randomly found a Cantonese restaurant: Maxim’s Cantonese Dim Sum. In other words, Maxim's is a very popular name for Chinese restaurants in North America. From the decoration to the menu, it can be seen that this restaurant is the earliest Cantonese restaurant.
Looking at the pictures of the dishes on the menu, they are not aesthetically pleasing, which makes me not confident in the taste of the dishes.
But the dishes that arrived looked more appetizing.
Taste: Waiting for the morning tea, I found that the taste was unexpectedly great.
I ordered fried eggplant, salt and pepper squid, chicken feet, shrimp dumplings, and yuba rolls. Every dish tastes authentic. The seafood is fresh and big, and its value is way above the menu.
Sakazai Sushi
Address: North Coast Market, 66-246 Kamehameha HWY B, Haleiwa, HI 96712
Recommendation Index: Three stars. Harley didn't eat much in the town and wanted to choose Asian food, so he came here. Overall, the sushi was beautifully cooked.
However, except for the different things on each roll, the inside of each roll is exactly the same, so it doesn’t feel very careful. The tempura was very greasy.
No Chinese BBQ Seafood Steak Rice Bowl
Address: 840 Waine'e Street, Lahaina, HI 96761
Recommendation: Four stars.
It is also a fast food similar to a shrimp food truck. This store is owned by Chinese, so the taste must be the same as ours. The store is in a square, with tables and chairs outside. It’s a bit shabby, but that’s the characteristic of Xiami Food Truck. Just hang the menu on the wall and just look at the pictures to speak.
I ordered fried chicken, fried shrimp and steak with rice. It feels very fragrant and has a strong garlic flavor.
There is an Asian supermarket next door, and I bought milk tea printed in Chinese as a drink.
Gomati Ramen House Japanese Ramen
Address: Ward Center, 1200 Moana Blvd., Moana, AL 96814
Recommendation index: four stars. Which company in Japan has the best ramen? Oahu, Hawaii, look for Gomatei! This store is right next to Ala Moana Shopping Center and is really the first choice to replenish energy after shopping. The Yelp review has four stars and more than 700 reviews, so it seems to be right. As soon as I walked in and smelled the smell, I knew I was right. Chinese people have a strong sense of smell. I ordered a ramen and a curry rice, both were good.
Most of the food I recommend here is Asian. Eat here and you might even meet fellow locals. But there are still many foreign tourists, most of whom want to try different delicacies, and most of them are full of praise after eating.
