1. Overview of the College

The School of Social Studies of Suzhou University is one of the secondary colleges under Suzhou University. Its predecessor can be traced back to Soochow University. In 1953, Jiangsu Normal University set up a special course in history. In 1955, Professor Chai Degeng, a famous historian, was appointed to create a history department. In 1995, the history department was renamed as a social college.

2. Discipline setting

The College now has five departments and seven undergraduate majors, namely, History Department, Archives and E-government Department (including archival science and information resource management), Sociology and Social Work Department (including sociology and social work), Tourism Management Department and Labor and Social Security Department.

3. Faculty

There are 114 faculty members, including 93 full-time teachers. Among the full-time teachers in the college, there are 65 people with technical positions above associate high school, and the proportion of full-time teachers is 69.9%. There are 18 doctoral supervisors and 64 master supervisors; Among them, distinguished professor, a Changjiang scholar from the Ministry of Education.
