Extended information
The She people mainly rely on agricultural production, supplemented by hunting economy. As early as the 7th century AD, the ancestors of the She nationality used their hard work to open up the mountainous areas at the junction of Fujian, Guangdong and Jiangxi provinces. At that time, the agricultural production of the ancestors of the She people was mainly "cultivation", that is, "slash-and-burn cultivation". Most of the land cultivated was dry land lacking water resources.
Due to extensive farming, low productivity, low crop yields, and long-term living in deep mountains and old forests, where wild beasts roam, the hunting economy has always been relatively developed. "Farming" and "hunting" were the early production characteristics of the She people.
The Ming and Qing dynasties were the period when the ancestors of the She people migrated to eastern Fujian and southern Zhejiang. When they arrived there, the Pingba area was already mostly inhabited by the Han people, and the areas with better natural conditions had been colonized by the Han people. Therefore, they can only open up mountains and ridges, open up wasteland to cultivate fields, and build new homes. Wherever they went, barren mountains turned into tea gardens and ravines into fertile fields. The She people have made important contributions to the development of the southeastern mountainous area of ??the motherland.
