There is also a "Wenjia City" on Mars! This red town is really "hot"

On April 9, 2022, IAU officially approved the official names of 16 craters, 3 domes, 2 ditches and 1 square mountain near the landing site of Tianwen No.1 and in the possible patrol area according to the announcement issued by China Moon and Planetary Geographical Names Database (LPND).

On 20021May 15, Zhu Rong, China's first Mars exploration mission, successfully landed at the pre-selected landing zone at the position of 109.9 east longitude and 25./KLOC-0 north latitude. China became the second country after the United States to successfully achieve a soft landing on Mars. After successfully driving to the surface of Mars, the Zhu Rong rover successfully carried out scientific exploration activities.

In order to facilitate the planning of the patrol route, describe the exploration activities of the rover, and interpret and scientifically study the obtained data, IAU officially approved 22 official place names located near the landing site of Tianwen No.1 and in the possible patrol area on March 9, 2022, namely: Pingle, Xibaipo, Wen Jia, Yaodian, Gujiang, Huxiang, Zhouzhuang, Ji Zheng, Qidu and Tianzhu Mountain.

It is understood that these geographical entities are selected according to three principles: geographical entities that can help locate Tian Wen-1 landing site on maps of different scales; "Zhu Rong" rover may patrol the geographical entities near the route, which is helpful to describe the scientific exploration activities of the rover and interpret the scientific data. Geographical entities with typical morphological characteristics are helpful to reveal and describe the geological background of the landing site.

According to the announcement, the names of these 22 geographical entities are all based on the naming convention of IAU WGPSN: all circular pits are named after towns or villages with a population of less than 65,438+10,000, which are related to the capitals of major vassal countries in China during the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, or are named according to the principle of regional coverage diversity among famous historical and cultural towns in China (see Figure1-KLOC-0/and Figure 65438+). The names of other types of geographical entities are inherited from the names of nearby circular pits (see figure 1-2).

Among them, the No.3 circular pit is named after Wen Jia Town, Liuyang City, Hunan Province, the dome 18 is named after Wen Jia, and Fangshan No.22 is named after wenshan city and the nearby circular pit "Wen Jia".

Wen Jia, located in Liuyang City, Hunan Province, is a small town near Hunan and Jiangxi, with an area of 148 square kilometers and a total population of 68,000. 1927, before the August 7th meeting, the Standing Committee of the Provisional Political Bureau of the Central Committee decided to hold the Nanchang Uprising, and also decided to launch the Autumn Harvest Uprising in the four provinces of Hunan, Hubei, Guangdong and Jiangxi. However, the situation was not smooth, and the insurgents suffered great setbacks and serious losses. In September of that year, Mao Zedong and other comrades led the revolutionary army of workers and peasants to join forces here, and decided to give up the original plan to attack Changsha. The insurgents evacuated from eastern Hunan and moved south. Therefore, the transfer of troops from Wen Jia City has become a turning point for producers to independently explore China's revolutionary road of "encircling cities from rural areas and seizing political power by armed forces".

"Mars is a red planet. We usually call it the red world. It also emits red light in the sky. Wen Jia is the glorious starting point of the Red Revolution. It is very interesting to leave a name on Mars. " Tan Wei, a popular science expert and president of the Hunan Astronomical Society, said that according to his speculation, Wen Jia was named because he hoped that the Mars exploration in China would find a suitable road, and then a single spark could start a prairie fire, which would be a place with more radiation. It is of far-reaching significance to name a red town in China on the red planet. I believe that China will make greater achievements in future Mars exploration and even interstellar exploration.

Over the years, Wen Jia Town has always taken "red" as the background color, and has the former site of the Wen Jia site of the Autumn Harvest Uprising, Liren School and other national and provincial key cultural relics protection units. It was awarded the title of famous town with characteristic landscape tourism in Hunan Province, and was selected as one of the top ten famous cultural tourism towns in Hunan Province, and it has embarked on a new way to promote rural revitalization with red cultural tourism. June 20 19, Wen Jia Town was selected as the seventh batch of famous historical and cultural towns in China, and it is gradually becoming an important destination for red tourism. Some people in the tourism industry said that this naming will further promote the development of tourism culture in this town.

"There is also a' Wenjia City' on Mars, which not only gives us spiritual encouragement, but also gives us inspiration for development. Jiang Dunming, secretary of the Party Committee of Wen Jia Town, Liuyang City, said that in the future, Wen Jia Town will continue to inherit the red gene, take this spiritual fulcrum as the development lever, inspire the broad masses of cadres and people, build more red cultural tourism projects according to local conditions, explore the red research model, extend the name of Mars to the trip of popular science research, and accelerate the construction of provincial-level characteristic cultural tourism towns and Hunan-Jiangxi border regional cooperation demonstration zones to contribute to the strategy of "strengthening the province".
