Is it cold in Japan in January? How does it compare with Jilin Province?
Because of its maritime climate, winter in most parts of Japan is not as cold as that in Jilin Province. For example, I used to ski in a place in Japan, where the snow was more than 9 meters and the temperature there was only two or three degrees below zero. Jilin Province, including other northern areas of China, belongs to the inland climate, where the snow exceeds 1 m, which is quite cold. I guess you may have lived in Jilin, and you must have some experience.
3. The coldest areas in Japan, such as Asahikawa in Hokkaido, have temperatures of minus 20 or 30 degrees, or even lower. In places like Tokyo and Osaka, the temperature in winter is a little further south than that in Shanghai.
