How to maintain and manage Chunlan Bay

1. Soil: Alkaline soil is not suitable for planting Cymbidium. Orchid mud is the most ideal culture soil, or humus and sandy loam are mixed evenly.

2. Temperature: The suitable growth temperature of Cymbidium goeringii is generally 15℃ to 25℃, of which 10℃ and 18℃ are from March to June to March of the following year. In winter, it can bloom normally even at 0℃ for a short time, and can tolerate the low temperature of -5℃ to -8℃, but it is best to keep the room temperature at 3℃ to 8℃, or keep the pot soil from freezing and put it in the sunny place near the south window.

3. Watering: The watering of Chunlan should be treated differently according to different growing seasons, different growth stages and different conservation environments. In winter, plants are dormant, so water should be controlled, usually once every 5 ~ 7 days, so that the basin soil can keep a certain moisture. If the basin soil is really dry, it can be sprayed with warm water close to room temperature around noon when the weather is fine, and it is not allowed to be watered by big water.

4. Fertilization: The use of raw fertilizer, concentrated fertilizer and large fertilizer, especially high-concentration chemical fertilizer, is especially prohibited in Chunlan, which is easy to cause dehydration and necrosis of fleshy roots. We should try to use retting thin organic fertilizer or special fertilizer for orchids, and apply thin fertilizer effectively and often.

5. Sparse buds: An important step in Cymbidium cultivation is to sparse buds, select one bud with the best development and ornamental value, and remove the rest. Spraying Hua Zhuang Di Ling can promote strong buds, plump petals, bright colors, rich flowers and prolonged flowering period. When the cymbidium is about to bloom, cut off the flowers together with the buds. Don't wait for the flowers to fall off naturally, which can reduce nutrient consumption and facilitate the next year's flowering.

6. Insect pests: Chunlan is prone to insect pests, such as white silk disease, anthracnose, scale insects, root rot and so on. Attention should be paid to ventilation and light transmission, and the basin soil should be well drained to prevent it. In the onset period, 50% thiophanate-methyl wettable powder can be sprayed with 800 ~ 1500 times of solution every 7 ~ 10 days. If the damage is serious, immediately change the pot and replant it.

Cymbidium is a common flower in furniture, but from its cultivation methods and skills, Cymbidium is more prone to pests, so we should pay attention to Cymbidium placed at home and deal with it as soon as possible.
