What is the cat's urinary drip syndrome?

Acute renal failure

Acute renal failure occurs suddenly within a few days or weeks. Cats usually suffer from acute renal failure due to poisoning, such as eating antifreeze, toxic plants, pesticides, cleaning solutions, certain drugs, etc. Trauma, especially pelvic fracture or bladder rupture; Excessive blood loss or rapid dehydration and shock, in hot weather, a significant increase in activity, vomiting and diarrhea may lead to a significant decline in water in the body; Kidney infection; Blockage, changing the flow of blood and urine to the kidneys; Heart failure can lead to low blood pressure, thus reducing blood flow to the kidneys.

Causes of chronic kidney disease:

Renal infection and obstruction; Congenital renal malformation (such as kittens born to Persian cats with polycystic kidneys); Bacterial infection, renal tumor (lymphosarcoma is the most common, which is a kind of leukocyte infiltration tumor); Hypertension; Virus infection; Renal amyloid deposits, etc.

Symptoms of renal failure

1, abnormal urine

Producing a large amount of diluted urine is one of the initial symptoms of cat nephropathy. Cats will urinate frequently. In acute nephropathy, cats will urinate less frequently than usual.

2, easy to get thirsty

When a large amount of water in the body is lost in the form of loose feces, cats with kidney disease will become dehydrated and thirsty. At first, they supplemented it by drinking more water, but in the end, the supplemented water could no longer meet the loss.

3. Nausea and vomiting

When the kidneys decline, cats can't effectively excrete a lot of toxins. This may lead to a sharp rise in some very disgusting chemicals in the blood, which will make cats sick and vomit and produce anorexia. If the corresponding improvement measures are not taken for a long time, cats will become thinner because of eating problems.

4. Anemia

The kidney produces a hormone (erythropoietin), which triggers the production of red blood cells. This means that when the kidneys are damaged, the blood will also be affected. In addition, sick cats often drink a lot of water, which means that their blood will be diluted and the concentration of blood cells will decrease.

5. Blood phosphorus is increased.

When renal failure occurs, with the decrease of renal excretion capacity, the phosphorus content in the cat's blood will increase, and the neutralized calcium in the blood will also increase. Most of the calcium will be stored in the bones and flow into the blood. In severe cases, it will cause serious damage due to calcium deficiency in the bones.

6. Hypertension

Some cats with chronic kidney disease have high blood pressure, but compared with other symptoms, the health problems caused by blood pressure are relatively small.

Urethral obstruction is a pathological phenomenon characterized by dysuria and urine closure.

1. kidney calculi. It is characterized by pain in renal area, dysuria and hematuria. Red blood cells, white blood cells and renal epithelial cells can be seen in urine.

2. Ureteral calculus. Characterized by severe pain and vomiting. If both ureters are blocked at the same time, you can urinate or not.

3. Bladder stones. It is characterized by frequent urination, hematuria and bladder sensitive palpation. Urine test showed white blood cells, red blood cells and bladder epithelium. If stones block the urethral orifice, it will lead to urinary atresia, make the bladder accumulate urine and expand, and even lead to bladder rupture, secondary peritonitis and death.

4. Urethral obstruction. When it is not completely blocked, frequent urination can be seen, and the urine is intermittent and even dripping. When it is completely blocked, it will produce urine closure, which will make the bladder full and even rupture.

In this case, drops of urine, a male cat, is suspected of incomplete urinary tract obstruction, and can pass X-ray examination. Treatment can be based on 20 ~ 30 mg of ampicillin per kilogram of body weight, intramuscular injection. Hematuria can be stopped by intramuscular injection.
