Preliminary study on Ming tombs reservoir
Destination: Ming Tombs Reservoir
Today's weather: sunny, warm, breezy and catkins.
Purpose of this trip: I heard that cycling around the Ming Tombs Reservoir is a good place for cycling in Beijing. In order to find the answer, I decided to make a field trip during May Day.
Although it coincides with the May Day holiday, considering that the Ming Tombs Reservoir is far less famous than the Forbidden City, the Great Wall and other popular attractions, I did not consider getting up early. Depart from Zhongguancun around 8 am, take a bus to Madianqiao East Station, then walk to Madianqiao South Station and take bus No.872. At Madianqiao South Station, there are many tourists, but most of them go to Badaling. In fact, there are not many tourists who take the 872 bus. Moreover, it is observed that most of the tourist destinations on the 872 bus are the Ming Tombs, not the Ming Tombs Reservoir, which is not far from the expected departure. Unexpectedly, 872 is not a through train like 877, and there will be many stops in the middle, and it coincides with the May Day holiday, and G6 (Beijing-Tibet Expressway) is also blocked into a dog. So an hour's bus journey, which was originally abundant, became two hours. And because the bus didn't go directly to the Ming Tombs Reservoir Scenic Area, I followed the navigation of Baidu map, got off at Qikongqiao Station and walked along the East Reservoir Road. It took me nearly 45 minutes to see the reservoir.
I have met many cyclists on the way to the reservoir on foot. It seems that everyone is still very enthusiastic about this section of the road. Originally, I was going to sweep it after riding my bike, but I didn't expect it at all. I didn't even find a place to rent a car. After the idea of renting a car was shattered, I decided to measure the Ming Tombs Reservoir with my feet today. Fortunately, the temperature was acceptable that day, and many green trees sprinkled mottled shade on both sides of the road, which was quite pleasant. Generally speaking, the road is relatively flat and the slope is not big, so it is really suitable for riding.
I finally found the entrance of the reservoir with Baidu map, but it didn't seem to give me such a big shock. First of all, there are many vehicles in the scenic spot, and there has been congestion; Secondly, the fishy smell is strong, which may be related to the recent high temperature. Down to the reservoir scenic area, there are many tourists. Near lunch time, many families have laid out picnic cloths to prepare dinner. In the corner of the reservoir, a barbecue area was specially opened. I have to say that the smell of fireworks is still relatively strong.
As you can see, the main tour of the reservoir is to walk along the bank of the reservoir. Of course, there are speedboat races, but there are also many people waiting in line. Fishing seems to be a big project here, and many photographers take pictures of cranes flying with the wind with long guns and short guns (maybe cranes ~ ~). Fortunately, I also met a paragliding training mentioned in a travel note today, and set aside a large area for training. Approaching the shore of the reservoir, I found a reason for the strong smell: there are some dead bodies of fish, crabs and turtles on the shore, and I don't know if it is caused by the rapid weather change.
As far as we can see, there are not many development projects in the reservoir, but a place for everyone to camp, barbecue and enjoy the mountains and rivers. Since visiting the reservoir is not the main purpose of this trip, I ended up hastily and left the reservoir for a walk at noon. Later, it took about an hour to bypass the main entrance of the Ming Tombs Reservoir. At this time, I suddenly realized that I didn't think it was very interesting because it was not open at all. The really interesting levee is not open, the pavilion in the middle of the reservoir is not open, and the vendors near the levee have not fully released their vitality, so this trip did not see the real charm of the Ming Tombs Reservoir. On my way back, I found Mangshan National Forest Park next to the Ming Tombs Reservoir, so these two scenic spots can be linked together for a day (if our feet allow, of course).
Although I didn't see the complete reservoir scenery because of the closure of the Ming Tombs Reservoir, I still achieved the purpose of this trip. All the way down, make sure that the roads around the Ming Tombs Reservoir are really suitable for cycling. Of course, the premise of riding is that there is a car to ride. After all, there is no place nearby where you can enjoy riding or renting a car.
So if you want to go again next time, it seems more reasonable to take the subway to the "Changping Dongguan" station, ride a blue car from Changping City to the Ming Tombs Reservoir, and ride back around the reservoir.
