What was Xingtai called in ancient times?

Xingtai City, referred to as "Xing" for short, was called Xingzhou and Shunde in ancient times.

Xing zhou, formerly known as Xingtai City in Sui, Tang, Song and Jin Dynasties, was known as Shunde House in Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties. In the 16th year of Emperor Kai of Sui Dynasty (596), it was founded in Shang and Zhou Dynasties. Xing is a square country with a history of 3500 years. In Shang Dynasty, Zu Ti moved to Xing, the capital, and settled in Zu Xin and Zu for over 100 years. Later, it moved to Nangeng and became a northern flat fan.

The fourth son of the Duke of Zhou in the Western Zhou Dynasty was in Xing State, and its territory was at the eastern foot of Taihang Mountain, so it was west of the Yellow River, south of Hutuo River and north of Zhanghe River. It first spread to the twentieth century and lasted for more than 500 years. It was one of the 53 countries in the Zhou Dynasty whose surname was Ji. Guo Xing is a country of the Yuan Dynasty and has the right to conquer the east of Taihang Mountain. In history, he led many governors to crusade against Beirongdi. Xing Rong is recorded in history books and occupies an important position in northern China.

Shunde House, formerly known as Xingtai City in Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties, was called Xingzhou in Sui, Tang, Song and Jin Dynasties. In the Yuan Dynasty (1262), Kublai Khan specially chose the Book of Changes and Kun Gua. The meaning of "Hou Kun is rich in goods, and Germany has no borders" was promoted to the name of Shunde Prefecture, which belongs to Zhongshu Province. It was promoted to Shunde Road in the second year of Yuan Dynasty, and Shunde House was restored in the Ming Dynasty, which was under the jurisdiction of Zhili Province.

In the second year of the Republic of China (19 13), Shunde was abandoned. 1925, Che Fu Cheng Xiang (Qiaodong) was established in Shunde. 1928 was abandoned as Xingtai county, and 1983 was established as Xingtai, a prefecture-level city in Hebei province.

Xingtai has a long history, with sages such as Guo Shoujing, Li Mu, Song Jing and Liu emerging, and emperors such as Guo Wei, Chai Rong, Meng Zhixiang and Meng Chang. The first emperor, Qin Shihuang, died in Xingtai Dune on the way to the East.

Xingtai is also the ancestral home of the royal family (Tang Zuling) in the Tang Dynasty. There have been events that have influenced the historical process of China, such as Yao Shun's abdication, Khufu's riding and shooting, the Battle of the Julu, the Yellow Scarf Uprising and so on. Nearly 100 idioms and allusions originated in Xingtai.

Geographical location: Xingtai City is located in the south-central part of Hebei Province, at the eastern foot of the southern section of Taihang Mountain, in the middle of North China Plain, and among the three provinces of Shanxi, Hebei and Shandong. North latitude 36 50' ~ 37 47', east longitude113 52' ~115 49'.

The Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal borders Shandong Province in the east, Taihang Mountain and Shanxi Province in the west, Shijiazhuang City and Hengshui City in the north and northeast respectively, and Handan City in the south. The longest thing in the city is185km, and the widest from north to south is 80km, with a total area of12456km2.
