Relationship between geographical characteristics and weather in Chongqing

Chongqing is located in the southwest of China, on the upper reaches of the Yangtze River, on the eastern edge of the Sichuan Basin, surrounded by Daba Mountain, Wushan Mountain, Wuling Mountain and Dalou Mountain in the north, east and south respectively. The landform is dominated by hills and mountains, and the slope area is large, so it is called "mountain city".

Chongqing has a mild climate and belongs to subtropical monsoon humid climate. The annual average climate is about 18℃, and the average minimum temperature in winter is 6-8℃.

Because it is located in the basin, surrounded by mountains, and the terrain is blocked, it is not conducive to the invasion of winter monsoon and the exchange of warm air flow with cold air outside, so Chongqing is warmer in winter. The terrain is blocked, and the water vapor is not easy to disperse, which also makes the weather in Chongqing foggy, so it is called the foggy city.
