Minhang District has a flat terrain with an elevation of 3.3 ~ 4.8m. The Quaternary overburden is 220~300m thick and less than 14km wide from east to west, which is located on the boundary zone of geomorphic units marked by "Shen Gang". The western part of Minhang District is a lake plain, and the central and eastern parts of Minhang District and Wujing District are coastal plains.
