Where is the "fenglingdu" that Guo Xiang will remember all his life?

When it comes to the most popular female characters in Jin Yong's martial arts novels, many people will think of Guo Xiang. When it comes to Guo Xiang, we have to mention a place name-fenglingdu.

The 33rd episode of The Condor Heroes is called Night Talk in Fengling. This time, Guo Xiang, who was only 15 years old, passed through the mouth of fenglingdu on the bank of the Yellow River and met Yang Guo, the great warrior of the carved gods for the first time. Since then, Yang Guo has become a lingering obstacle and obsession in her life, and "fenglingdu Mouth" has also become the starting point of this sadness.

As the saying goes, "I can't forget the end of the world, and the Jianghu girl is old." Twenty-five years later, 40-year-old Guo Xiang founded Emei School, and named her big disciple "Fengling", which was later the master of Fengling. Visible, she spent a lifetime, also can't forget the hakodate in fenglingdu, forget the beauty of meeting Yang Guo for the first time.

So, what kind of place is this unforgettable fenglingdu in Guo Xiang? What kind of particularity is there?

First, the location of fenglingdu Many people think that "fenglingdu" is just a fictional place name written by Jin Yong. But in fact, fenglingdu not only exists, but also has a very long history.

Fenglingdu is located on the bank of the Yellow River at the southwest end of Ruicheng City. From the map, the Yellow River comes from Hetao Plain from north to south. When it was blocked by the Qinling Mountains, it made a 90-degree turn to the east, then it rolled eastward and ran into the sea. On the other hand, fenglingdu is located at the zigzag bend of the Yellow River.

There used to be an old saying: There are many ferries under the sun, but there is only one in fenglingdu. Because of its special geographical location, fenglingdu has become the most important and famous ferry on the Yellow River.

First of all, fenglingdu is located at the intersection of the Yellow River and the Weihe River. The Weihe River traverses the Guanzhong Plain, providing abundant irrigation for the 800-mile-long Qinchuan River and contributing nearly 600 million tons of sediment to the Yellow River every year. Due to sediment deposition, the river at the confluence rises, the river drop decreases, and the water potential becomes stable, thus forming a place suitable for crossing, which is the reason for the formation of fenglingdu.

In addition, fenglingdu also happens to be in the center of the junction of Shanxi, Shaanxi and Henan provinces. When a rooster crows, it is heard in all three provinces, so fenglingdu has also been called "the three provinces of rooster crowing" since ancient times. Because of this, fenglingdu has become an important transportation hub.

Third, fenglingdu also guards the entrance to the Guanzhong Plain. From the topographic map, fenglingdu is bordered by Zhongtiao Mountain in the north, Qinling Mountain in the south, the Central Plains in the east and Qinchuan in the 800-mile area in the west. Here, the mountains and rivers are vertical and horizontal, and the terrain is long and narrow, forming a necessary passage in and out of Guanzhong Plain.

As you can imagine, standing at the mouth of fenglingdu, overlooking the Xiyue Huashan Mountain in the southwest, overlooking the rolling Yellow River at the foot, with the left hand pointing to the Central Plains and the right hand pointing to Qinchuan. Its terrain is self-evident. For thousands of years, countless businessmen and wanderers have crossed the Yellow River from here and walked between Woye in Guanzhong and the land of Sanjin, writing the vicissitudes and long history of the Chinese nation.

Second, Jin Yong's fenglingdu according to Jin Yong's setting in "The Condor Heroes", in the early spring of February in the Southern Song Dynasty (1259), Guo Xiang, his sister Guo Fu and his younger brother Guo Polu went to Jinyang (Taiyuan, Shanxi) and invited Qiu Chuji to Xiangyang to participate in the "Heroes' Meeting". The three returned to Xiangyang from Jinyang, passing through fenglingdu on the bank of the Yellow River.

It was early spring in February, and fenglingdu on the north bank of the Yellow River was buzzing, with donkeys singing Ma Si and cars buzzing. The weather is cold and warm these days, and the Yellow River thaws for the first time. On this day, when the north wind blew, it began to snow. The river was heavy and frozen. We can't ferry on the water and drive on the ice, so many guests who want to cross the river and go south are stuck in fenglingdu.

The above paragraph is Jin Yong's description of "fenglingdu". Because it was freezing at that time, the surface of the Yellow River was frozen, and it was impossible to cross the river. Guo Xiang and others had to rest in an inn next to fenglingdu, and only then did they hear the story of Yang Guo, the great warrior of the condor.

Later, Guo Xiang and Yang Guo met a ghost in a cave in Xishan, went to Black Dragon Pool to catch Hu Ling, and finally went to Baihua Valley to meet Ying Gu, an old urchin and Deng. In the end, Guo Xiang accepted three golden lilies from Yang Guo and got three promises from Yang Guo. She and Guo Funan crossed fenglingdu together and returned to Xiangyang.

It can be seen that when Mr. Jin Yong wrote this important story, he arranged time and space clues around the "fenglingdu" on the bank of the Yellow River. And it is precisely because of fenglingdu's strange fate that Guo Xiang has fallen into this evil love with no turning back and will never be able to extricate herself.

As the saying goes, "The piano on the mountain head in Shaoshi is not cold, and fenglingdu smells like it. It's hard to get old in the world. I don't believe that charming girls happen in vain. When fenglingdu first met, he saw Yang Guo and missed his life. "

Fenglingdu mouth, horses and chariots neighing, accompanied by the bleak boatman's song at dusk and sunset, mashed up the girl's dream of love.

Third, the particularity of fenglingdu So, why did Jin Yong write "fenglingdu" into his novels and set it as the place where Guo Xiang and Yang Guo met? There are two main reasons:

First of all, fenglingdu's name is very nice.

As we all know, one of the characteristics of Jin Yong's novels is that he is good at naming. Whether it is a person's name or a place name, he can always design some beautiful and classic names, which will be passed down from mouth to mouth and memorable for readers.

The word "fenglingdu" is beautiful to read and really meets Jin Yong's strict requirements for place names. There are actually two theories about the origin of the name "fenglingdu". One is that there was a minister named "Hou Feng" in the period of the Yellow Emperor, and he was buried in Ruicheng, Shanxi Province after his death, so he was called "Feng Ling". There is also a saying that Nu Wa's real name is "Feng" and "Fengling" is actually the burial place of Nu Wa.

But anyway, the name fenglingdu is really nice and popular. Someone once launched a vote to select the best place names in Jin Yong's novels, and fenglingdu ranked fifth, which is enough to explain the problem.

Secondly, fenglingdu used to be an important military pass, which played a metaphorical role.

Fenglingdu is not only a transportation hub, but also a battleground for military strategists. Across the river from Tongguan, known as the "No.1 Xiongguan in the world", they jointly guarded this impregnable mountain pass and became the gateway of Guanzhong and the throat of Qinchuan.

There have been many classic battles around fenglingdu, and the most tragic and wonderful one is the "Zhongtiaoshan Defence War" that broke out here at the beginning of the Anti-Japanese War. 1938, 30,000 Shaanxi men crossed fenglingdu, advanced into Zhongtiao Mountain, and fought hard with more than 100,000 Japanese troops for three years, keeping them out of Guanzhong and defending the defense line of the Chinese nation.

Among them, the story of "800 Qinchuan men bravely jumped into the river" happened. 1one day in June, 939, the long river was winding and the sunset was bloody. Eight hundred soldiers of the 17th Route Army of Yang Hucheng under the age of twenty stood on the south cliff of Zhongtiao Mountain. Facing the Japanese guns, they bowed down to heaven first, then worshipped their parents, jumped off the cliff and fell into the rolling Yellow River. ...

This heroic martyrdom happened next to fenglingdu, which is similar to the spirit of Guo Jing and Huang Rong in The Condor Heroes. They all huddled in Xiangyang and died in the end. After the destruction of Xiangyang City, Guo Xiang became a lonely man completely. She has no parents and relatives in this world, only her yearning for Yang Guo and her hostility to her home country. She fled into an empty net alone and sadly and sat beside the ancient Buddha.

From this point of view, Jin Yong linked Guo Xiang and fenglingdu with the ingenious handwriting of a great writer, implying the ultimate fate of Guo Xiang and her family.
