Precautions for anti-corrosion in winter

Matters needing attention in winter construction of responsible coatings

1, low temperature is not suitable for paint construction.

After winter, the temperature in the north is generally below zero, and the paint on duty has a suitable construction temperature.

For epoxy resin or polyurethane coatings, the curing reaction is not sufficient because of the low temperature, which reduces the film performance. Generally speaking, epoxy coating is not suitable for construction below 10℃, and it is also not suitable for construction below 5℃, because epoxy coating cannot produce curing reaction at this time, and polyurethane cannot be constructed in the natural environment below 0℃.

In some areas in the north, if the temperature permits, we should make full use of the noon time for construction.

2, windy weather is not suitable for outdoor anti-corrosion painting construction.

In windy weather, impurities such as sand and dust easily fall on the undried paint surface, which affects the formation of paint film. In addition, the paint is sprayed in windy weather, and the paint is seriously lost.

3. Pay attention to ventilation

Because of the low temperature, workers usually work with doors and windows closed in winter, especially in the north, where there is heating in the room. Don't neglect ventilation for the sake of temperature rise, which will cause poisoning to construction personnel. So pay attention to frequent ventilation to prevent poisoning. The best time to open the window for ventilation is from 10 to around 3 pm.

4. When the temperature is low, the viscosity of the coating increases. In order to achieve the best construction viscosity of the coating, the amount of diluent is increased. At this time, after coating construction, the dry film thickness of the coating becomes lower, and the fullness and luster of the coating will decrease.

5, paint drying time becomes longer at low temperature, avoid painting in construction due to poor paint drying, otherwise it will easily lead to biting and falling off.

6. Use winter paint and quick-drying thinner in winter.

7. Don't add too much curing agent to speed up drying, otherwise it will easily lead to defects such as cracking of paint film.

8, outdoor construction, generally have dew phenomenon in the morning, so it is not suitable for construction, construction to ensure that the environmental humidity 85% or less; Substrate temperature ≥ ambient temperature 3℃.
