The Historical Evolution of Luoyang Airport

Having a real civil airport is the dream of several generations in Luoyang.

It has been 67 years since Luoyang Airport was first built in 1920, abandoned in 1940s and completed in 1987 in April.

According to historical data, in September of 1920, Wu, a direct warlord, built Luoyang Airport for the first time in Jinguyuan, covering an area of more than 2 million square meters, with three planes. At that time, it was mainly used for military purposes, thus opening the curtain of Luoyang Airlines.

From 65438 to 0925, Wu started the civil aviation business in Luoyang-Xi 'an and Luoyang-Zhengzhou, which was the earliest civil aviation route in Luoyang and even in Henan. Luoyang-Zhengzhou cargo and mail air service opened in May 1 is divided into two shifts every week: Luoyang Eastern Airlines on Tuesdays and Fridays and Zhengzhou West Airlines on Wednesdays and Saturdays. However, due to the warlord scuffle, the aviation business between Luoyang and Xi did not actually start. Soon, due to the war, Luoyang Airport was destroyed and gradually left out.

1927, Sun Yue Department of the National Armed Forces was stationed in Luoyang, and Northwest Aviation Department was located in Xigong, with He Zun as the director and 10 aircraft. Jinguyuan rebuilt the airport and built two brick and wood hangars.

1928, Feng Yuxiang started the civil aviation business in Xigong, but there were only 1 plane. In fact, the civil aviation business did not really develop.

1929 In September, Lufthansa proposed that China and Germany communicate with airlines in Europe and Asia through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nanjing Government. 193 1 In February, China signed a contract with German businessmen to transport Eurasian air mail for 10. In March of the same year, Eurasian Airlines was established in Shanghai and opened two domestic routes: one is the Shanghai-Shaanxi section of the Hu xin (Xinjiang) line, that is, from Shanghai to Xi' an via Nanjing and Luoyang, with a voyage of 3,426 kilometers; The second line is Pingyao Line, which runs from Beiping to Guangzhou via Taiyuan, Luoyang, Hankou and Changsha, with a voyage of 2,200 kilometers.

On June 1932, the route from Beiping to Luoyang was opened to traffic. On April 1 day, Shanghai-Nanjing Luo 'an shipping service was launched, which runs every Tuesday and Sunday.

On May 1934 and 1, Eurasia Airlines opened Pingyao Line, which runs from Beiping to Guangzhou every Wednesday and Saturday.

Because both lines pass through Luoyang, Luoyang Air Station plays an important role, with 2 mechanics, 3 electricians, workers, and air station director, totaling 1 7.

1934 In the second half of the year, due to the lack of business in Taiyuan, Taiyuan Station was cut and Luoyang Station was moved to Zhengzhou Wulibao Airport.

It should be noted that at that time, the handling business during the navigation period was mainly to transport air mail and military and political dignitaries, and there were no real passengers, so Luoyang Airport could not be called a real civil airport. .

One year after Luoyang's suspension, for military reasons, the National Government began to expand Jinguyuan Airport, and signed the Sino-German Cooperation Airport Construction Contract with Germany to build nine hangars, which was later terminated due to the outbreak of War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression.

Later, the National Government established the third aviation factory and aviation terminal in Xigong, mainly for military purposes. 1936, after the "Xi' an incident", He Qinying mobilized his troops in an attempt to send planes to bomb Xi' an, which is based at Jinguyuan Airport. On February 25th, 65438, Zhang Xueliang sent Chiang Kai-shek from Xi 'an to Jinguyuan Airport and flew to Nanjing the next day.

Regrettably, in the 1940s, Jinguyuan Airport was gradually abandoned due to the war, and was later occupied by farmland and factories. There is no trace now.

Development history

After the reform and opening up, various undertakings in Luoyang have developed rapidly. In order to meet the needs of economic development and opening to the outside world,1In May 1984, the Sixth People's Congress of Luoyang passed a resolution on the early construction of Luoyang civil airport. Later, the State Council and the Central Military Commission approved the construction of Luoyang Civil Airport with the document "No.27".

1984 September 18, the municipal government formally submitted the Report on Submitting the Proposal for the Construction of Luoyang Civil Airport Project to the provincial government. On June+10, 5438, the provincial government submitted the Luoyang civil airport project proposal to the State Council and the Central Military Commission. At the same time, after repeated argumentation by the municipal government and the Civil Aviation Administration of Henan Province, it was decided to build a civil airport between Zhongtou and Matun in the northern suburbs, and at a distance of 10 km from the city center.

1On August 4th, 985, the State Planning Commission approved the Design Task Book of Luoyang Civil Airport with the document "Ji Jiao No.2005". 1229".

On September 27th, 1985, Luoyang Civil Airport Construction Leading Group and Luoyang Civil Airport Construction Headquarters were established.

1985165438+1October19, Luoyang aviation civil airport officially started construction. Luoyang Airport covers an area of 6.5438+0.6 million square meters with a total investment of 8.65438+0.2 million yuan. After more than a year's efforts by the builders,

1987 was completed in April, and 10 was put into flight operation on1October 4.

1 August 9921day, after the State Council approved the opening of Luoyang Airport, the supporting facilities of Luoyang Airport were expanded. The expanded Luoyang Airport has complete communication and navigation equipment and good navigation aid lighting system. Luoyang Airport has become the main airport in Henan except Xinzheng Airport in Zhengzhou, the provincial capital.

According to experts from Luoyang Airport, Luoyang Airport has excellent clearance conditions, and the weather can take off and land for more than 350 days throughout the year. It is one of the best alternate airports in China and a fixed alternate airport in Zhengzhou, Xi and Wuhan.

It is worth mentioning that only three years after its opening, Luoyang Airport has opened flights from Luoyang to Guangzhou, Beijing, Shanghai, Nanjing, Xi, Fuzhou and Hong Kong.

After the completion of the first phase of Luoyang Civil Airport, it has begun to take shape as a second-class airport, with a concrete runway with a length of 2,500 meters, a width of 45 meters and a thickness of 0.34 meters, advanced navigational lighting, communication, meteorology and navigation equipment 1+0 and supporting facilities. The main buildings include navigation control building, terminal building, control tower, freight warehouse, single dormitory building, maintenance building, fire building and so on. The building area is more than 20,000 square meters. In addition, 20,000 square meters of tarmac and 5,750 cubic meters of oil depot have been built, and telegraph stations and non-directional beacons have been set up. Later, because the new facilities of Luoyang Airport were basically complete, they were improved and transformed on the basis of the previous facilities, and no other projects were built except greening the whole station area.

After the opening of Luoyang Airport, with the opening of operating routes and the renewal of aircraft types, the traffic volume has been increasing.

1990, in order to strengthen passenger and cargo transportation, Luoyang airport actively organized passenger and cargo supply, introduced door-to-door ticket delivery, added passenger and cargo agent points, worked overtime, chartered flights and other convenience measures, and maintained a good momentum of passenger and cargo transportation. At the same time, with the development of economy and the improvement of people's living standards, the number of international friends, overseas Chinese, foreign businessmen, overseas Chinese and compatriots from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan who come to Los Angeles by air has increased year by year. More and more domestic tourists and Luoyang people began to fly in and out of Luoyang.

Among the ever-increasing new routes in Luoyang Airport, two have attracted much attention:

On April 8th, 1990, the trial flight of the Shanghai-Luoyang-Urumqi route was successful.

1 May, 9931day, Luoyang, the first international charter flight route in Luoyang, was opened to traffic.

This indicates that Luoyang Airport has begun to cover the vast western region and overseas, and has become a civil airport with certain influence in China. Up to now, Luoyang Airport has opened more than 20 domestic and international routes, including flights to Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chongqing, Kunming, Chengdu, Dalian, Shenzhen, Qingdao, Hangzhou and other cities, as well as overseas flights. Flights from Luoyang to Nagoya, Luoyang to Okayama and Luoyang to Ryukyu Islands are non-scheduled charter flights. During the World Stamp Exhibition and Peony Fair, the scheduled flight from Hong Kong to Luoyang made more than 2,000 Hong Kong and Taiwan tourists take the flight to Luoyang to participate in the stamp exhibition and enjoy the peony, which had a great impact.

Today, Luoyang Airport has 8 direct flights with 74 flights per week, achieving direct flights with the top 8 airports in domestic passenger throughput. In 2008, the passenger throughput of Luoyang Airport was close to 200,000 passengers.

Luoyang Airport also actively supports Luoyang's tourism, agriculture and forestry production.

1990 On April 15, Luoyang Civil Airport and Luoyang Peony Fair jointly launched an air tourism service project. More than 10,000 people took a bird's eye view of Luoyang City and the Peony Fair by plane, which satisfied the long-cherished wish of all walks of life and tourists to travel by air and was well received by people in Luoyang and nearby areas. This tourism service project lasted for many years.

Forestry sowing was organized twice in June 1987 and June 1990, with an operating area of 164000 mu. In recent years, forestry sowing and aerial sowing have become more and more frequent to control pests and diseases. Luoyang Airport provides many services such as aviation exploration, photography, weather modification and skydiving.

On June 5438+February 3, 20081day, the National Development and Reform Commission approved the feasibility study report of Luoyang Airport reconstruction and expansion project. The new airport terminal was put into operation on April 20 10. The newly-built terminal covers an area of14,800 square meters, and three boarding bridges are added, which can meet the requirements of 760,000 passengers, 8,695 flights and 5,200 tons of postal cargo throughput every year. The apron covers a total area of 62,580 square meters, and can park 9 large passenger planes at the same time.
