How to make your own WiFi antenna
Methods 1: The paper clip antenna was made.
1: Prepare the required materials and tools. You need to prepare a large paper clip, a used old ballpoint pen and a roll of electrical tape. You may also need a ruler, scissors and a lighter.
2: Straighten the paper clip. Unfold the paper clip and straighten it into a straight line.
3: Measure and cut the paper clip. In order to get the best signal, the length of the paper clip must be 6 1 mm. You need to make the length of the paper clip as close to this value as possible. Only in this way can you make the most efficient antenna.
4: Bend the paper clip. You need to bend the paper clip to about 19 mm to form 90? Right angle. This paper clip will be inserted into the WiFi antenna port.
5: Take out the ballpoint pen core. You'd better use an abandoned ballpoint pen, because you have to sharpen the refill. Cut a length of12-18 mm. Because there may be ink in the refill, keep away from yourself when cutting the refill. When cutting, you can put the refill on a flat surface to avoid ink splashing on your body.
6: Place the refill on the bent part of the paper clip. Place the cut part of the refill at the bent end of the paper clip. Make sure that the refill is about1.5mm beyond the end of the paper clip.
7: Shrink the refill with a lighter. Carefully heat the refill on the paper clip with a lighter or other heat source. This will shrink the refill and make it stick tightly to the paper clip.
8: Insulated antenna. Wrap insulating tape around the paper clip to prevent the interference of wireless signals.
9: Insert the paper clip into the antenna port. Can paper clips do it? A refill? Insert one end into the antenna port to ensure that the interface pin and the paper clip are connected together in the refill. If you can overlap them, the received signal will be better.
Method 2: Make directional antenna.
1: Prepare the required materials and tools. You need to prepare a adapter box connector, four #6x 1/4 "nuts and bolts, a copper wire with a diameter of 32mm, a tail wire and an empty aluminum can.
You also need a drill, a soldering iron and a suitable screwdriver.
Tail cables are jumpers with connectors at both ends.
Aluminum cans need a metal bottom, but there is no cover.
2. Measure the diameter of aluminum cans. The diameter of the aluminum can will determine the location of the wiring. The width of aluminum cans must be between 7.6 cm and 15.2 cm.
3: Mark the position of the connecting cable. You need to measure up from the bottom along the outside of the aluminum can. The specific length varies according to the diameter of the aluminum can. The position of the connecting wire will determine the maximum signal strength. Here are some commonly used values:
An aluminum can with a width of 7.6 cm and a connection position of 9.5 cm.
An aluminum can with a width of 8.9 cm and a connection position of 5.25 cm.
An aluminum can, width 15.2 cm, connection position 3.5 cm.
4: Drill a hole in the side of the aluminum can. Drill a hole with a drill bit at the measured connecting line position, and the size of the hole is the same as the smaller end of the adapter. If there is no drill, you can drill holes with nails and hammers.
If the adapter has screw holes, it is necessary to drill some small holes around the opening, and then fix the interface with nuts and nuts.
5: Measure and cut the wire. Connect the copper wire to the smaller end of the adapter connector. The total length of copper pipes and cables shall be 3.07 cm. In order to get the best connection signal, you need to make the length as close as possible to the specified value.
6: Solder the copper wire to the smaller end of the adapter connector. Fix the wire on the back of the adapter connector with a soldering iron. This is the probe of the antenna. You can check the related guide to learn how to weld. The copper wire must be directly connected to the connector.
7: Protect the probe with aluminum cans. However, after the welding position is cooled, the probe is mounted on the aluminum can, the copper wire is located inside the aluminum can and the connector is located outside the aluminum can. Fix the probe on the aluminum can with nuts and nuts.
8: Connect the wireless network card to the aluminum can with a tail wire. Connect the wire to the probe with screws, and then connect the other end of the wire to the antenna port of the wireless network card.
9: Place the aluminum can facing the access point. Aluminum cans must face the wireless access point. The aluminum can can be fixed on the photographic tripod by wire harness, which makes it easier to aim the aluminum can at the access point.
According to the size and measurement accuracy of aluminum cans, and the interference between the antenna and the access point, the coverage of the antenna will be different.
