Nanjing University of Information Science & Technology, located in Jiangbei New District, Nanjing, is a national key university featuring atmospheric science. It was established by Jiangsu Provincial People's Government, China People's Education Department, China Meteorological Bureau and State Oceanic Administration. It is a world-class discipline construction university and a high-level university construction university in Jiangsu Province. It has been selected into the 20 1 1 plan, the national plan to build high-level university graduate students, the special key discipline plan, the excellent engineer education and training plan, and the national model university for deepening the reform of innovation and entrepreneurship education.
The school was founded in 1960. 1963 was independently established as Nanjing Institute of Meteorology, and 1978 was listed as a national key university. In 2004, the school was renamed Nanjing University of Information Science & Technology.
